Host Savannah State 2nd at MEAC event

Host Savannah State is in second place after the first round of the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Crosswinds Golf Club.

The Tigers opened with a score of 1-over-par 289. SSU senior Brandon Neals was the only Tiger to finish under par, carding a 1-under 71. Neals is tied for fifth place after opening with five birdies and nine pars. He shot 1 under on the front nine and closed with even scoring on the back nine.

Georgia Regents University leads the field after shooting 12-under 276. GRU Augusta’s Broc Everett leads the individual race with a 67. GRU joined the MEAC this year as an associate member for men’s golf after several successful years playing as an NCAA Division I Independent. The school, formerly Augusta State, has competed in 13 NCAA championships and has two NCAA titles (2010, ’11).
