The designed new Student Union will be awesome. Combine those changes with the venerable facade of War Memorial Stadium - the subsequent modernization renovations should be in line with other campus construction. Happy for you.The new student union will be great Lil CU is feeling some type of way about that since she will graduate next May.

Brother Tony is correct. The reason this place has not been renovated is because the foundation and superstructure has issues that would be expensive to repair. The holdup has been that it is a historic war memorial. It would be cheaper to tear it down than to put funds toward preservation. The city is still not doing it with that 1.4 mil. The last proposal the city floated was to demolish the whole thing but keep the front entry arch to preserve the memorial. Even that did not get support. I think what will eventually happen is that A&T will keep it for a while until it becomes a hazard, and will ask the city to put up some preservation money or allow them to tear it down. The city will be forced to act then or watch it go away. It would not be an issue with voters because funds for the place has been rejected three times by voters over the past 20 years. The voters wanted a new place and that is what they got.
Has anyone seen a timeline on renovations?
The State will provide the money to pay for the white boyz on campus and their sport. Why are they spending so much money on a sport that brings in no revenue. That money could, and should be used to get the revenue sports, football and basketball, competitive on the national level. How many black students, on that 90% black campus, attend baseball games. What are they going to build next, a field hockey field, or a new Olympic size swimming pool. In these times of short revenue sources, we need to spend our money wisely.
I found some minutes from the last Board of Trustees Facilities Committee report that mentioned waiting for a Brownfield study before they could move forward. It's #03 on the list of documents.https://bot.ncat.edu/_layouts/15/mobile/viewa.aspx?List=891e156e-1162-4022-b1c9-e46a5461428a&View=4bdd1807-6091-4e41-86e3-07029922286c&RootFolder=%2FShared%20Documents1%2F54%20-%20BOT%20April%202019%20Meeting%20Committee%20and%20Full%20Board%20Meeting%20Materials%2F04%20-%20Business%20Affairs%20Committee%20%28BAC%29
