I know, I know...but this is worth sharing!!!!! :brickwall:

Statistically, if a Black boy cannot read by the time he finishes the 5th grade, there’s a 75 percent chance that he will be  a criminal by the age of 25. It is the relationship between mis-education and criminology. – Dr. Umar Johnson

Philadelphia Plans to Close 23 Schools,
but Builds a $400 Million Dollar Prison

If this is their plan for young people, then black people may want to come together and fight.   The city of Philadelphia recently announced plans to close nearly two dozen schools, while simultaneously spending $400 million dollars to build a shiny new prison.   We hope that this isn’t the intended replacement for those displaced students coming out of inferior educational systems.

Pennsylvania’s School Reform Commission voted to approve the budget to close the schools in spite of pleas from parents and students not to do so.   A total of 23 schools will be closed, roughly 10 % of those in the city.  A stunning 81% of those school closings are going to impact black students, even though they only represent 58% of the student body.

Study: White People Support Harsher Criminal Laws If They Think More Black People Are Arrested

A recent study suggests that, if you are white, and you are presented with evidence that our criminal justice system disproportionately targets black people, then you are more likely to support harsh criminal justice policies than if you were unaware of this evidence. According to a study by Rebecca Hetey, a post-doctoral fellow in Stanford’s Psychology department and Jennifer Eberhardt, her faculty advisor, informing white people that African Americans are significantly over-represented in the prison population “may actually bolster support for the very policies that perpetuate the inequality.”

Forty percent of the nation’s prison population is black, as compared to only 12 percent of the population as a whole.

To reach their conclusions, Hetey and Eberhardt conducted two experiments involving white subjects. In the first, white people were asked to watch one of two videos containing mug shots. In one video, 25 percent of the mug shots were pictures of black men, while in the other video, 45 percent of the mug shots depicted African American males. After watching the video, the subjects were then asked whether they would sign a petition calling for one of California’s strict sentencing laws to be eased.

At some point, we have to stop thinking that education is the sole responsibility of the school system. If parents don't read, children won't read. You have to foster a love of learning in children and reinforce what is going on in the school or supplement what is NOT going on in the school. Also, you have to develop good decision making skills in kids. You can't completely blame the school system when your kid breaks the law.

Yes, indeed....everyone has to play their part...especially the parent and even the child. The saying 'it takes a village' is true.
But what happens when a child has knucklehead parents, or is neglected or is being raised by older grandparents who don't have the energy they used to have to keep up with these kids?
It seems too easy for them to fall between the cracks. Some of these babies don't stand a chance.

Maybe its time for Black folks to just form their own education system since the one in place is  to doing the job.

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.
