I watched the show....and Prince did his thang...but that's what he does. I'm glad he pulled "She's Always in My Hair" off the shelf. And....he subtly ripped it on the guitar at the end. I knew he did...but I just watched it again...and yep, he did.

3rd Eye Girl seems ok. The drummer can really lay it down. The guitars didn't move me. I'm still partial to the Asian bassist he had a few years ago with the extended neck bass that played that thang like nobody else.

First time I heard Liv Warfield...and if all of her material is like that, I'm hooked. I will be researching her today.

The stars of the show for me...the horn section from NPG! Those cats blew on everything they touched!  Wow!!!!!

i'm glad to see Prince putting himself out there more. That reclusive behavior don't put money in the bank. I saw him when he was on that sitcom after the Super Bowl.

You are right.  I was glad to see him do that. Hopefully his thinking will continue to evolve as it relates to digital music and his internet presence. Instead of suing/trying to shut down every image of him...embrace the publicity, and build on that base.  And...find a platform (iTunes, spotify, or whatever) that he can release his music instead of thinking it is a master conspiracy to take money out of his pocket. Heck...throw some of I his old stuff that wasn't released that he had no intentions of releasing.  His version of what the young folks today call a mix tape. A few years ago he gave away his musicology cd as part of his concert ticket. Creative...and I believe it got him to Platinum Status. A ticket was a CD.

It was good and he's iconic but his bands evolve so much that I can't say if this was any better than the Revolution or NU Power Generation.

Instead of being the contrarian Prince needs to buckle down and release a good album. His stuff has been throw away for years.

If I was Ms. Warfield I would run far away as I can. Prince has not helped many artists get to the next level.

I agree Bison. Prince has to come down off his high mountain and hire some of the young hot producers. Every artist has limitations, and sometimes need help. Miley Cyrus hooked up with the hot young hip hoppers to remake her dull as dish water music.

IMO that would just be Prince sounding like Everybody else.  Not something I'm interested in hearing.

Then you have to decide why you are doing it. Are you doing it for the art or for the money. More often than not, art don't pay. If you are doing it for the art, why charge anything for your concerts and music? I think that has been one of the big conflicts Prince has had in his career. Early on the did Prince and had limited success. Then he went commercial and sold millions. He became angry and went back to the art, and the records stopped selling. Most folk still love the commercial Prince.  I don't buy or listen to his new music but I will rock that stuff from the 80's and 90's.
