Never seen an episode of any of these shows even with all the hype and discussion surrounding them. I don't watch TV like that. When I do it's mostly sports and news. Am I the only one out there who hasn't viewed the variety of hot network or cable TV series?

I've never seen Breaking Bad, the Walking Dead, Mad Men, never saw the Wire (only knew who Stringer Bell was ;) ), and I only watched Scandal on Netflix and Hulu plus after being cajoled to. I have to say I LOVE Scandal

I might catch up on the others too.

I mainly watch re runs or catch what I can when I can - if I really want to see something I DVR it.

   @ Devin.

Its not a big deal. And no, you're not the only one who has not seen these shows.  Many people do not watch these shows and I would say most of them pay no attention to the hoopla around the cult-following of these shows. I think Ray Donovan [showtime series] would have a bigger cult following if it were on mainstream media, ie., CBS, NBC, ABC.

What I find funny are the numerous inquiries on social media from those who don't watch the shows yet they seem to be either puzzled or annoyed by those who do watch these shows and their numerous postings about it. Not saying this is you, Devin, but I have seen the 'backlash' of the following of these shows as well, which makes no sense to me but its pretty much kind of the same thing.  ;D

I watch Scandal although I fell asleep on it last night - not because it was boring but because the old man was sleepy   ::)#DontJudgeMe  :brickwall:  I'll catch the rest of it later.  ;)

The other shows you mentioned, I may have heard of but I have not seen.

 Real.  Raw.  Gritty.  Grimey.  That Wire wasn't no joke.

My little brother came in on Season 3 and I had to convince him to go back and watch Seasons 1 and 2....finally he did it and was glad that he did.

I've seen the Wire couple of episodes. The Walking Dead was to gruesome for me, stop watching after 2 episodes. Scandal I'm there every Thursday night.

Different strokes for different folks.

Nothing wrong with that OR your choices.

Personally, I don't care for Mad Men... something about not having ANY black people on a show that turns me off ya know? But the rest I enjoy.

When I'm not watching QUALITY TV programming, I'm watching the news. Sports is not that important to me unless FAMU, Georgetown, or the Falcons are playing.

But you can't DRAG me away from Hell on Wheels, Doctor Who, Luther, Homeland, Shameless, Californication, House of Lies, Game of Thrones, The Newsroom, Longmire, Justified, Orphan Black, The Bridge, The Americans, Masters of Sex, Scandal, and The Walking Dead.

GOOD STUFF!!!

^^^I forgot Ray Donovan... which as JT said, is an EXCELLENT show!

Saw Ironsides with Blair Underwood the other night.

It has potential... mainly because of Underwoods acting... but it ain't gonna make it. It's too "Hollywood", whereas the OTHER shows on the list AREN'T.  :nono2:

That's the reason I stopped watching Sleep Hollow after episode 2 and why Marvel's Agents of Shield is on Life Support... ESPECIALLY since THEY don't have any black people either.  ::)

The last TV series I watched regularly was Grey's Anatomy. Then it got weird and bad a few years ago. Too much of the relationship/love angle for me. Haven't watched another TV series that intently since.

I meant to watch Ironside before they cancel it - you know folks are gonna have a fit over a black Ironside.

How could I forget Luther! I absolutely LOVE Luther.

As Cholly mentioned you are free to like what you like to the OP. The reason "Scandal " is popular is due to a Black female lead in a dramatic series created by a Black woman. Also a strong social media presence lead by Black female fans.

I wont go into a long diatribe on what I like. What I don't like is the continued whitewash of network and cable tv of  diverse Black characters.I'm finding alot of good to great programming online that is filling that niche.

 No, you're not. I haven't seen one episode of any of them. When I do watch TV, I watch Discovery, NatGo, or retro shows from an era gone by. Shoot, I didn't start watching Law & Order until it was in syndication...

The Wire is the best show of all time.  I watch scandal, but the hype comes from living in a social media world.

No matter how popular she still a side chick.  Actually a good one because she plays her position.  And like all side chicks, the sex perpetuates a fairy tale.
