You people are so emotional.  You people are too emotional to ever be on a jury.  If the Blacks chosen for the jury pool for this case are as emotional as you people it's a good thing they weren't chosen.  Also, if their minds were made up like you people that would eliminate them also.  You people need to get a grip.

I don't think I'm being emotional. Even if I was being emotional, being emotional in and of itself, is no vice. I think I'm telling the truth. You have your opinion. I have mine.

For those who are boycotting Florida, do not boycott events like those involving FAMU and Bethune Cookman.  There is a lot of talk about boycotting Florida on social media.

I've had my vacations in Orlando for the last twenty years and will continue.  Was there 6/28 - 7/3 and will be leaving on a cruise from Jacksonville.  I don't agree with a boycott of Florida.  That makes no sense.

I have mixed feelings about the verdict tonight.

One, I respect the jury decision.  It was an uphill battle for any type of arrest and prosecution in this case and, once the focus shifted from the actual events that lead to TM death to actually trying TM's character that lead to his death, it was over from there.  The State half-heartedly tried the manslaughter charges, and that was also a negative aspect.  However, for the most part, I was satisfied in an arrest, in a trial and that justice was served.  Disappointed with the verdict, yes.  It is what it is.

However...

Two, this verdict just does not sit right with me.  I live according to the laws of the state and country to which I serve as a soldier and leader.  To the extent that I am profiled...whether I am getting gas at a convenience store and watched as if I am about to commit a crime, to catching a LEO's eyes when I am near them or even when I drive through anybody's neighborhood that parallels this case and this guy could be found "not guilty" of even manslaughter?!?!?!?  It just does not set right with me.

My family is bi-racial.  My two youngest are twins and they asked me:  "Dad, what does this verdict mean?"  Sadly, this means what it always have even with a guilty of a major or lesser charge.  Being black in America is complex and sometimes sadly predictable.  Situational awareness is key. 

• GZ will always have the blood of TM on his hands.
• Southern Trees bear strange fruit - and of course, Southern Courts of Law.
• Negative reaction and negative action will not solve this case, and
• I beg to differ on the aspect of race.  IT WAS ABOUT RACE and money.  TM was "guilty" because of his race.  GZ had money to prove himself "not guilty".  There is a difference.
  
• Live your life knowing that greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Besides, 50 17 miles south of Sanford, they had a trial where a young lady lied and should have been guilty of killing her daughter, Caley Anthony.  The State of Florida ...

Let me only add that z had money BECAUSE of race. He had thousands of people who donated money to support his defense against the charge of killing an unarmed black teen. Those people not only find nothing wrong with that, they vehemently support the right to kill young blacks.

THAT is a product of two things...

The END of the Fairness Doctrine which allows Faux "news" and right-wing radio to "prime" white america and stoke fears of a Black Planet... and second, a society that REMAINS as racist and insensitive to the lives and experiences of people of color as it has EVER been.

WHILE I AM SADDENED AT THIS VERDICT, I NEVER FELT THE PROSECUTION MADE AN EFFECTIVE AND COHESIVE ARGUMENT.   I NOW KNOW THAT I WILL NOT EXPECT THE COURTS TO PROTECT ME.  I WILL KEEP MY .380 IN MY CAR, SHOOT FIRST AND TAKE MY CHANCES, IN A COURT LATER AS OPPOSED TO BEING DEAD ON THE SCENE.

You are 100% correct about the prosecution putting on a HORRIBLE case. Ironic, since this was supposedly the best group of prosecutors from the most successful State Attorneys office (in terms of conviction rate) in the State of Florida.

Having watched or HEARD 90-95% of the trial from start to finish, I think they DELIBERATELY tanked it because of the NUMEROUS glaring mistakes and errors made at all stages, from allowing ALL of the blacks to be struck from the jury... asking the jury to form it's own conclusions during closing arguments. Just FREAKIN STUPID stuff. 

As for you going about armed... you are a Soldier. But what about the next child walking home from the store? Our children are at risk.
