I'm wondering where Star Parker got her medicare numbers.

http://www.statehealthfacts.org/comparebar.jsp?cat=6&ind=297

I'm also wondering if she believes that medicare should be abolished.

NAACP Plantation Masters Play Race Card Again
Star Parker

Jan 09, 2012Sign-Up  Rick Santorum must be “racist” because he thinks all people, regardless of ethnicity, should have the dignity of self sufficiency.

At least that’s how the NAACP sees it.

I made a promise to myself not to post or comment to any of the threads you start, so since you didn't start this one let be go ahead and ask, DO YOU HAVE ANY DIRECT QUOTES OR LINKS FROM STATEMENT FROM THE NAACP THAT INDICATE THE STATEMENT HIGHLIGHED ABOVE?

81 here's a simple question for you. Would you rather see Black folk on welfare tied to government dependency or gainfully employed?

You didn't address my question?  But to address yours, I would rather all folk regardless of race be gainfully employed.  Now if by some circumstance individuals fall victim to some difficult situations, I would want some support system that would treat them fairly and not want to end support to certain citizens and single them out just because of their race.  I want a system where support is provide regardless the individual is in the inner city or a farmer with thousands of acres and his crops and potential income is wiped away by some storm or natural disaster.  If we are subsidizing farmers and corporations, let us provide support for individual in the mountains of West Virginia and the depressed areas of cities, regardless of race.

Now could you address my question.

I am opposed all forms of social welfare measures as they currently exist. This includes the following: Public housing; Minimum wage laws; Farm price supports; Social Security (also known as Old Age Survivors Insurance [OASI]). None of these government run programs have achieved their so-called objectives. I will be glad to give you a good list of how each has failed. Of course, I believe their are better alternatives in the free market system to achieve a better and prosperous society without the type current social welfare measures run by the government today.

Will you also pay Morgan State for the state aid that was given to the school to help you attain your degree??? If you 'oppose" all of that "welfare".

When (white) people make the assertion about blacks/welfare...it's not based on total white vs black households collecting.
They're referring to ratio and percentage...i.e. roughly 1 in 3 food stamp households are Black.
Now, obviously that does not mean that all black folks get food stamps/gov't assistance -- but that's what ignorant people fall back on when they try to "prove" their argument.

Sidenote, I just got into a spat about this very thing w/ a white co-worker last week, who made an extremely ignorant comment regarding the newly-released Jordans and the "fact" (that was the word that he had the nerve to use) that "tax payers are the ones who paid for the majority of those shoes."...right after he finished talking about the rush on stores the day the shoes were released. and we all know who was featured in those news clips....

We're under attack. I do not understand the establishment. The arrogance. According to the census - there are 37 Million African Americans in the US. 196 Million whites.

We are 12.2% of the population. 37 Million of us. There are about 47 Million folks on foodstamps right now(according to my google research this morning). Just how many does he think are on welfare of some sort? If all of us were on it, that still leaves about 10 mill out there.

When does somebody gut check these men? They are fighting with Jim Crow in 2012...and there is a Black man on Penn Ave. The message is not lost on me. These bastards are using the same dog whistle Palin was...

Jeb and Ellie Mae are going to come out of the hills with guns drawn to vote for the good ole boys and be pissed when THEIR benefits get cut. Surprise, Jim Crow...Uncle Sam wants YOU, too. Dummy.

This is a good response, but I am wondering about something.  Please tell me that the co-worker is not that ignorant.  This is for their sake.

a--, I WILL NOT REFUSE TO TAKE MY OWN MONEY- FOOL. THE PAYROLL TAZ WAS MANDATORY. I WOULD HAVE RATHER NOT BEEN A PART OF THIS F'D UP SYSTEM. HOWEVER, I STARTED PAYING INTO THE SO-CALLED SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME (OASI) WHEN I WAS A MERE 17 YEARS OLD. SINCE I STARTED AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE, I WILL PROBABLY RECEIVE LESS THAN WHAT I PUT INTO THIS SCHEME.
