After you see about 2 of these MJ tributes, it gets old and very tired.
Still, I saw some decent ones. But overall...ehh!  ;D

Drumma, you know I'm telling the truth. We had it with Luther, Rick James, who else, Teena Marie will probably be this fall. And EVERY BAND has to do one. It gets old real quick. However, it is nice to see the youngstas in the band recognize these fallen musical entities.   ;D

So true.  Ya know, it seemed like every year since 2003, someone in the music world died and we ended up doing a tribute to them.  We dedicated shows to Barry White (2003), Rick James (2004), Luther Vandross (2005), and MJ (2009).  It feels like I'm forgetting someone.

FAMU Atlanta Football Classic 2009

I'd like to hear the 100 play Tina Marie's "Out On A Limb" this upcoming season.

There were Ray Charles tributes in 2004, too.  I wish marching bands would perform tributes or themed shows to legends while they are still living.

  I feel you.

Speaking as a former bandsman, we only do what the band staff wants us to do.

Why do some bands not change shows for different games, but give you the same basic show all year?

It is because the band directors are lazy.  We (bandsmen) can only do so much.  At the end of the day, the band staff (mainly the head band director) decides on what the band will do, play, and where they will go.  It sucks at times, man.

There is an old saying in the band world that a band is a direct reflection of its band staff.
