I had a Peurto Rican manager who wrote the same way she spoke...and English was her 2nd language. It was really sad.

What was that phrase......if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones.....

As a person who is somewhat fluent in a second language, it's difficult to fully master all the nuances. Heck, I know a bunch of folks who can barely speak and write only one language with accuracy and precision.

As with anything there is a balance needed here. One should have patience with others, this is true  however if you are in a position of authority and leadership, proper communication skills are a must. If your communication skills are not up to par it lends itself to increasing cases of miscommunication and that could be problematic regardless of how many languages you might know.

Let me guess the # of languages you speak?  Agree on the patience. Don't wholly buy into the potential problematic statement.it's been my experience that sub-par communication can easily overcome. I deal with the Japanese at Toyota all the time. Their English isn't perfect and it is sometime difficult to understand them. I also recognize I may be difficult for them to understand. To compensate for this, I talk much slower and spend more time seeking to be understood for clarity and comprehension. I also use simple, common words vs larger, polysyllabic words.

...sent me an email today with the word "there" referencing a group of people I'm to meet with, instead of "their". ARGHHHH!! :brickwall:

Don't you just hate that?!  I know I do.  That and splitting verbs!!!!

I mean really, homonyms,  that is basic grammar ,we  learned that in fourth nor fifth grade.
I am not competing with anyone but myself.
I simply want to be a better person today than I was yesterday.

The only ones that really make me cringe would be when someone says "conversate"  or use a double negative "No nothing" I remember those would make my English teacher hair stand on end and you would be writing grammar rules till your hand fell off.
