Area is so-so. Its on Capital Hill. More bars/pubs in that area. Better restaurants requires a short cab ride.

My favorite when I went to Howard and STILL my favorite--Wings and Things on Georgia Ave(Mambo sauce)
and Johnny Boy' Carryout on Southern Ave. ( Get the ribs with the ARRIBA sauce)

Believe it or not the best Bar-b -QUE is DC was by two fella who use to cook it and sell it under the 14th Street Bridge.
