But what is it with this 21st century/minstrel show stuff?  

It might be cliche', but tell me what part wasn't true?  Is He not a bridge over troubled water?  Did He not rise on the 3rd day?  That's what Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Corinth....now if your Bible says something different, then I apologize in advance....

I agree folks shouldn't say it just to say it....and I know you can get tired of hearing the same thing every time....I know what some Deacons are gonna say before they get on their knees to pray....but you sure can't put everybody in the same box unless you know them or their motivation.... don't knock the old folks or the old time church...they can say it every time and mean it every time, and it doesn't mean that they are stuck or that they aren't growing....


It's the 21st Century, but God is still the same God as he was yesterday, today, and tomorrow (yep, that's cliche' too)

vg, every now and then i am asked to make an announcement or address a certain issue at church.  i don't begin with 'giving honor to god . . .'  after service i have had members get on me for not saying that and giving honor to the people on the rostrum, deacons, trustees, and others.  when i ask why should i have to say that, especially when, in some cases, has been said two or three times already they have no answer.

Well that is petty, legalistic stuff.....if that is what they're concerned with you need to pray for them and do what you do....

I can't make you say that, but if I say it and I mean it folks shouldn't look at me sideways...just like they shouldn't look at you sideways for not saying it....God is supposed to be the head of all our lives....
