RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia has approved 15 additions to its Landmarks Register, including a Lynchburg center of the Civil Rights movement and 10,000 acres in Prince William County where the first Civilian Conservation Corps company was put to work.
The new listings were announced this week by the state Department of Historic Resources. Descriptions of the additions were provided by the department. The sites also will be forwarded to the National Parks Service for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.Virginia University of Lynchburg. The oldest institution of higher education in the city and the first associated with African-American education.
