why did the republicans filibuster it

Because they we're too busy trying to protect their tax cuts and forming their latest "fool-proof" plan to kick "Barry" out.

Despite New Funding Offsets, US Chamber Of Commerce Still Opposing 9/11 First Responders Bill
December 21st, 2010 at 1:00 PM by Lee Fang

This happens because the major media outlets are owned by large/multi-national corporations.

Wow! This thread has been up over 24 hours, and none of the board's "passionate and caring" conservatives have chime in with comment...

............soflo, I think our "beloved" resident neo-coons are stumped on this issue.  There doesn't seem to be a unified message emanating from the usual, suspect neo-con media sources. Therefore, our "board" friends have no coherent talking points.

As a matter of fact, was watching Rachel Maddow on MSNBC last nite, and she actually showed a clip of one of the Fox News anchors calling out specific GOP senators for not taking a stand on this issue.  So you can imagine the confusion that would cause for spotty, y, uchi, and the rest of the gang.

Oh, well..................................................................................

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.

As a result we are coming to you directly for your financial support>

Please consider supporting our efforts to foster free and open discussion of current issues as they relate to the topics you are interested in.
