I am curious since they were so strongly in favor of reducing the deficit.

Hey buddy, the way you get at deficit reduction is reduce the size and scope of the federal government.

Without citing specific proposals,  that is meaningless rhetoric.

u, let me handle this IDIOT.

For starters with a massive reduction and elimination of agencies within the Department of Education. Also, there are areas of redunacy in various federal agencies. Let's eliminate them....DO I NEED TO GO ON IDIOT.

I don't think my post was meaningless or rhetorical.  I think I make a valid point.  For decades, politicians from both sides of the aisle have been saying that we need to reduce spending in order to reduce the deficit but somehow the deficit keeps increasing.

Example:

When the Republicans gained control of
Congress in 1994, they promised to eliminate the
deficit and reduce wasteful spending. For several
years, the GOP partly upheld its commitment by
modestly curtailing spending growth and balancing
the budget.

Also, I  don't know why you got your drawers all knotted up. My post was directed toward Oldsport's comment.

Getting rid of ALL departments including Education, IRS, Homeland Sec, would reduce the deficit by less than 1%.  Over 80% of the deficit is Social Security, Medicare and Defense.  See no one is willing to touch that.  OS solution is to try and cure a patient with colon cancer by removing his appendix.

I have ideas concerning Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare. It's called elimination of the abuse.

You notice I said nothing about the military, because National Security is the one true responsibility of our federal government and it's leaders. IDIOT.

Most of the money loss is not due to abuse.  The problem is people are living longer and collecting better benefits.  If you corrected abuse you would still be in a hole.  That waste, fraud and abuse BS has always been just talk, in an effort to avoid the difficult things we must do to bring down the deficit. We SS was first passed the average life span was 62---you were eliglble at 65 for SS.  Now people are living longer than 65 thus we have less money to fund it---waste , fraud and abuse won't cut it anymore.
