I got family who are FVSU alums, and inlaws who are SU alums....

people dont like change. especially older people.  when lomotey was at FVSU, he brought a lot of change to the ways HBCUS normally do things...and older alumni didnt like it, but most of the changes he made panned out positive...so though there was dissention, most of what he wanted to accomplish he got done....

Southerns older alumni are much stronger, and more locally based...and vocal...so when he came in trying to make changes, they bucked...some would argue that the changes were positive. Others didnt want any change regardless of whether or not it was positive.  When I spoke to some of my inlaws and family this weekend, most were happy he was leaving...but most couldnt really quantify why he should go. I heard a lot of "he didnt get along with the alumni"..my response was "so what...did he do a good job?"

this is what is gonna kill HBCUs if we dont change....quicker than state budget cuts.

older folks want things to stay how they are...even if the foundation is crumbling behind the scenes...

You are on the money, but for SU you could add that certain faculty members didn't want change either.  When he was forced to cut positions on campus, faculty got upset about it even though it was the governor's decision.

You are Correct!!!!  Although, Our Alumni are Across the country, we ALL ultimately want whats best for OUR dear Southern.... However, it is the Heat of Louisiana Politics that is in Play.  Those OLE heads, if OLD thinking must be removed in order for the University System to move forward.

With that being said, the Alumni has lost Faith and Trust that these People really have SU's best interest at heart.

Im really Unsure of my stance on Lomotey Resigning Voluntary or Involuntarily.......

Louisiana Polotics is a True Beast!!!!

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.

As a result we are coming to you directly for your financial support>
