Fatal Ocean Drive shooting causes panic in South Beach amid spring break parties

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in South Beach that caused panic amid the St. Patrick’s and spring break parties that attract large crowds to Ocean Drive.

Police officers responded to the shooting at about 10:40 p.m., on Friday, at Seventh Street and Ocean Drive and found two male victims wounded, according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

A graphic witness video shot from the Majestic Hotel by Wyndham showed a man lying face down on the street. Another graphic witness video shot from just outside the Avalon Hotel showed an officer performing CPR.

Another witness video showed Miami Beach Fire Rescue personnel continuing CPR. They took the two victims to the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where one of the victims was pronounced dead and the other’s condition was listed as critical, according to police.

Detectives reported detaining a suspect and seizing three firearms after the shooting. They were asking anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

I'm 100% with you. Unlike many others, I'm not making excuses for bad behavior. I'm not going to try and justify the behavior by saying 'they, (whites) do it also' either.  Frankly I avoid groups of young non HBCU black males, it's too dangerous.  I'm not signaling out one incident either. This crap is basically happening in every community. I can go through the Greensboro news and pick out several from the last two weeks.

With that said, I love my brothers and would do anything to help them but at the same time, I'm afraid of them because many are out of control like wild pack animals. 

Can you really fault people for avoiding and excluding trouble? Yes you will discriminate by excluding. Yes innocent bystanders,  law abiding black males like myself,  will suffer because of it but what else can you do?

Greensboro stop inviting Hip hop artist to the downtown festivals years ago, and if I was on the city council, I would continue this policy regardless of the cries of discrimination/exclusion from the community. When kids don't know how to act and respect others, you don't take them anywhere. You do that for others who will have to deal with the consequences.

If time for all black to wake up and realize the problem is inside the house. Presently white folk and systemic racism are not our biggest problem. It's in the mirror looking back at us. I know how we got to this point, so there is no need to try and go into it.  You can't change the past, but you surely have control of the present.

I was struck by the white couple you see for a few seconds toward the end of the vid “casually” eating their meal at the outside dining table, while utter chaos ensues on the street just a few feet away. Yeah, as the description in the vid states, it DOES look like a scene out of “Scarface”.

Big Cap, I share the concerns set forth in your extended post^^^. But are we REALLY gonna impute the conduct of some seemingly “feral” young adult negroes to ALL negroes in that demographic. I’m asking somewhat rhetorically because, UNLIKE you, I make little distinction between college educated and non-college educated negro males in that demographic. I don’t phuck with large groups of ANY of them.

At the same time, however, I am loathe to speak of young adult negro males in the same manner that white folks and others do. The white male poses the GREATEST threat to domestic tranquility in this country.

I agree with this as well. I believe because many of us have not broken mental chains, black self-hate manifests itself in several ways. You have to ignorant ninjas who only want cause chaos and see another black person as their rival and enemy, the negro Republikkkan who supports white supremacist ideas, and casual negro who has the same implicit biases as the average white person.

You do have point here good brother. With being said, women shouldn't have to shoulder the burden. Additionally, I have noticed that more recently, females with shut the club down with the ph--kery as much as men.

White supremacists have nothing to do with this.  You people should take your own advice when it comes to Black Republicans.  The self hate and hating fellow Blacks are real.  You believe the lie and embrace the implicit bias. 

Those Blacks that bring the violence and are the reason we can't have anything are not Black Republicans.  They have never identified as Black Republicans. 

Part of the problem has already been addressed.  Another problem is the lack of men in the household and their lives.  Similar to the paper on adolescent elephants being moved to another preserve.

I agree 100%. Women have always picked the man. In the past if he had no job, no transportation  and no home, a respectable woman would not touch him. A pretty face, and a big d!ck were not enough. These girls now  are in the business of taking in fixer uppers.  If a man knew he would have to do better before he could get some pu$$y, he would do better. But no, women be waving  pu$$y out the car window, in the concourse at the mall, in the school hall ways.... Pu$$y be like a new born baby,  just laying there waiting for anybody to pick it up.
