The Jack Ruin. First Police Award and a $10,000 prize goes to North Carolina this was a major victory for North Carolina Central University's ja-- band because of who they competed against the top collegiate ja-- ensembles from around the country. So you get bands like Michigan State Temple University, North Texas Music Professor Thomas Taylor says each of those universities have thousands more students than Central. The only H BC U school in the country invited to compete. We were, I guess the David among all, even so they've been invited each of the three years. The event has been held coming up just short of winning until this year. The odds of winning may have seemed improbable. Given the recent deaths of music Professor Arnold George and music director Brian Horton, we thought that we were going to have many, many years of great education, great music from Doctor Horton that was tough. That's been tough for all of us filling the void was Professor Robert Rowers. He was our secret weapon. Rowers led the band to a resounding victory. A life changing moment for the students. and some of them will go on to create their own things and become those leaders and those performers or educators or people who work in the industry of music. I know that they will be a part of that a seminal moment in their life.

I so miss this annual event. If you are a fan of ja.z.z and ever get a chance to, please go up and visit Lincoln Center when they have this annual event. It is truly a treat to see these young people bring alive the ja.z.z of days gone by. And it's also a treat to see them really be into it as though they were there back then, too. :nod: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:
