I will always be with the students but Dr. Malveaux and the president said something very important. The Board should not meet and get into the weeds with students. I also understand why students have never seen an interim president on campus. BCU is the victim of bad presidents.
The board is a problem at another level.

Well, those who are strong advocates of BCU did manage to get their BOTs down to 9 from 31. They had 31 people on their board when they went through the dorm/Wells Fargo debacle.

The 31 number just makes me itch. How or why do you have or need a 31 member board as small as, Bethune-Cookman? This isn't the University of Florida nor Florida State.

that's all...   :brickwall:

The more the merrier if they were all brining in funds. Unfortunately that title is only a placeholder for many people and they bring nothing to the table. Their only job is to pick a president and raise funds. Boards should stay out of campus politics unless it involves the president directly.

I felt bad for the interim president during the interview because he's basically nothing on that campus and was only trying to cleanup and place the college in a good light. Unfortunately the students, public and alumni were not hearing it.  Thousands were trashing him, the board and the college during the live interview.

Ed screwed up, as j and many others have said in previous posts, how can you expect to keep a job when you trash your employer in such a major fashion? Other than that, I feel the man has a good heart, a bit misguided, but nevertheless good.  If he was really that concerned for the kids, he would have done what many of us do, keep our heads low, mouths shut and jumped in while trying to make a difference from within using the local resources available to us.  Sorry but that flame throwing mentality seldom generate positive results. People march and protest, but change is actually made when few eyes are present.

I actually think the interim president did a good job on the interview. The bottom line is how do you think you can lambast your employer online and think you will continue working? Like that doesn't work anywhere.

Bear, my issue with him right now is that he threw  some students under the bus when he said they were lying. He should not have done that, now all the students will be against him. He could have spun it and said something to the effect, he was not aware, but was going do everything in his powers to make their situation better. Most of the folk in the live stream were BCU students, and they were disputing him even step of the way.  He really fumbled the ball on that one, and if he is in the running to become president, he just made a very quick exit. Administrators don't fight their  students, you coddle them. Seasoned administrators know that is a battle they can't win.

I don't understand why black folk are so personality driven. We jump right over the topic at hand and start picking at the personality based on preconceived opinions we have of the person.  Last night folk were going in on the presidents eyes. They were sayin he was talking with is eyes closed, and they knew he was lying because he was not looking into the camera. Yet they were sympathetic to Reed, and no one mentioned a thing about the crocodile tears, the mispronunciation of words, and the Tyler Perry over dramatization. I don't have a problem with Roland. If he goes inside my house and find roaches, maybe I should do a better job of hiding my roaches.

Roland lost me when the interim President debunked his statement that the last president was fired.  He was spreading misinformation and here are the receipts.

Bethune-Cookman President LaBrent Chrite abruptly resigns without informing board

E. LaBrent Chrite abruptly resigned as president of Bethune-Cookman University on Tuesday morning, surprising the school's board of trustees.

Chrite addresses B-CU resignation, praises school's board, acknowledges disagreements

Roland is trying to make this about him.  I think the interim slap him down everytime he tried to come up with some BS.

Is running a media outlet the same as running a private HBCU????

Do better Porky.

Roland irks me because he is a journalist that says uh and um so many times that I can barely follow what he's trying to say. Secondly, he has fashioned himself as an HBCU advocate but really only reports on tea and shows up when he's keynoting.

Ed was unhinged in this interview. Interrupting his representative, crying, speech was sometimes inaudible. By now you should be able to articulate what things are from your side free of all the dramatics.

Again, Ed could've been right about whatever but you can't lambast your employer and think you'll remain employed. Also, I still think the president did a good job articulating his point.
