Bethune-Cookman should fire Ed Reed — no more celebrity football coaches at HBCUs

Reed has made a fool of himself and epitomizes the bad that comes with copying the 'Deion Sanders' model

How can they fire someone they haven't hired yet? No contract has been signed, from my understanding. They can dismiss him and move on.

I recall when Horace Grant brother coached for Southern. I don't think he had even been there a month. When he said some things and then had the nerves to interview for other jobs that had openings while on the road. Southern had his bags, ticket, and Uber waiting on him when he got back.

One thing for sure, SU's Board will not allow someone to come in and start making disparagingly remarks about them or the University and continue to work there too. They would personally throw your bags out on Scenic Hwy (U.S. Hwy 61).

That's exactly what I said in an earlier thread that he wouldn't have stepped foot on a state school's yard. I know at Fort Valley State University he wouldn't be able to park his car at 1005 State University Drive.

that's all...

Like it or not, Coach George, Coach Reed and Coach Prime ‘ statements have gotten national attention.  HBCUS need people who can’t money can’t buy because they have money already. Most are not going to speak out about the situation because it threatened their livelihoods.

Reports will start asking these governors the tough question. The issue has been brought to attention to the masses.  This why Coach Reed needs a documentary to continue to get the message out about the situation at BCU. To make an omelette, you have to break a few eggs.

BCU must do what is best for BCU. Many of us don’t know the full situation of BCU as far as financially. Many they have someone who is more business minded than emotionally minded making the decision.  Maybe business won over emotions in this case.

What do you mean?  Like it or not, Coach Reed is bring attention to BCU. The video went off the charts with views.  This the world we live in now, so we need to adjust to it.  People want to learn more about BCU and BCU needs to step its social media game up.  You have to feed the masses more content because you have their attention. Don’t hide the issue show them. If the State owe BCU money let the people know this why we have this situation.

One thing about people, deep down we have a sense of fairness. The governor of Florida will get blasted for not doing the right thing. BCU got the eyes of the world on them now, they better take advantage of the situation.

There may be more to the story than we know. They might be making a documentary that actually might help BCU.
BCU just might know what they are doing. They have everyone’s attention now. 🤔

Cookman doesn't need any darn documentary. They need someone with competence and ACTUAL love for the school to perform the duties that are necessary for them to become winners. Documentary my ass.

To all who don’t HBCUs to hire these famous coaches, raise $100 million to contribute to that university.  That is the tangible and intangible benefits of having these high profile coaches at HBCUS.

However, what happens when PWIs used these coaches to build their programs and schools.

Documentaries can inform people and cause changes. Look at the R Kelley situation. Look at the JSU water system. It has improved and changes are coming. JSU has been putting pressure on the State to do something. Although Coach Prime has gone, the football team still posted a video about the water situation.

They already used them as players to build their programs and schools.  I guess the cycle continues.

BTW, Ed Reed won't see a high profile coaching job any time soon.
