FACT SHEET: The Biden-Harris Administration’s Historic Investments and Support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities
President Biden’s FY22 budget request for the Department of Education includes a total of $807 million in discretionary funding to HBCUs, an increase of $72 million over last year’s funding level, which will substantially increase key HBCU funding streams to support research, infrastructure, and student support services, amongst other programming.

Key word infrastructure.  I am sure they could have completed the practice track with some of those funds.

So, oldp you want to use those funds to support athletics for a possible coach that does not give a chit about the school he wants to work at.....

This is what it all boils down to with respect to the rhetoric Prime, Uncle Luke and others are spewing. The Biden funds, in part, were to help with the amount of reduced revenue many of our schools saw during Covid. These clowns want a portion of that revenue allocated to athletics, specifically football.

You have to understand, some of us actually believe that athletics, particularly football are "the be-all and end-all" at a universities. To them, academics comes in a distant second.

Bro, there is a way to do thing. It may be in the best interest of the USA to replace  all grass fields with field turf.  Why can’t we use a small % of the fund to maintain or repair athletic infrastructure?  It is a safety issue for the students. We don’t have because we don’t ask. There is nothing wrong with maintaining athletic infrastructure with federal dollar if it provide a benefit to the USA as well.

We might be able to use  some money to improve infrastructure. We are going green so we might have to replace grass fields with turf all over the USA including HBCUs PWIs and high schools. It will help conserve water and prevent green house gases.

??? Are you serious????  Because it would be against the law.  There are specific guidelines for use of those funds.  That is why a lot of people got in trouble during the pandemic when those funds were specified for one thing and folks used them for another.

Show me a small-college president who uses those monies for that purpose, and I'll show you a faculty that is about to vote no confidence.

That’s where the United Methodist Church comes in to play. They can ask the church for money to pay for these upgrades. However, they can’t use the Covid funds which basically end this year.

The United Methodist Church withdrew their support from BCU when Jackson was president there because of malfeasance with their finances and the BOTs debacle there.

Whew Chile! I'm so glad you pointed this out. Folks don't realize how much the Federal and state Government heck even city government audits the money they give out. Folks really think funds from the government is like a ATM where it can be withdrawn and spent like you at Walmart. The government branches audit the auditors. 😂 Folks really have no clue on how checks and balances go. They just believe what someone said on TV or the internet and run with it.

.....Coach  Prime was correct about doing an audit of the school because you might find some funds are not allocated properly.....

Really??  Apparently you do NOT realize how you sound? ???

ALL state supported institutions are audited yearly.

In GA, when there is the slightest issue at one of the 3 state HBCUs pertaining to the  finances, it is widely reported.  I would think that in the state of MS, the situation would not be any different regarding financial impropriety at an HBCU.

Reed should not have gone public with his gripes. That is definitely not professional. By the same token, he shouldn't have to go a whole week without securing his contract, and he shouldn't have to clean out his office after the former coach left.
I mean, DAYUM, you gotta at LEAST try to meet the man half-way.

The last two HBCUs where I've worked were not only audited by state agencies and the federal government but they hired third party auditors before the audit so they could fix any issues prior. Also, I've worked at one that had a full time team of internal auditors. All of this fiscal mismanagement people think is going on isn't (not that there is zero, it just ain't how people talkin).

Also, we need to admit that the language in Reeds comments was vile, crass and unprofessional. How do you call the people who you expect to now work with you MFs on a big platform? You're gonna need Ms. Otha to sign your requisitions but you just called her an MF and now it's going to be at the bottom of her to do list sir.
