RICHMOND, Va. (January 10, 2023) - CAA Football, which expands to 15 teams in 2023 with the addition of Campbell and North Carolina A&T, has announced its schedule for the upcoming season.

The conference slate once again includes four home games and four road contests for each team. Under the league’s new scheduling format, each team is paired with two permanent partners that it faces every season. The other six conference opponents rotate through the schedule, ensuring that all teams meet each other at least once at home and on the road over an eight-year period. Limiting air travel to reduce costs was also a priority in the new scheduling model, with most teams not having more than one flight each season during conference play.

Conference action in 2023 kicks off on Thursday, August 31 with league newcomer Campbell hosting 2022 CAA co-champion William & Mary and Delaware visiting Stony Brook. North Carolina A&T makes its CAA Football debut on Saturday, September 16 with a short trip to Elon. There is at least one conference matchup during all 12 weeks of the regular season.

The non-conference schedule features 14 games against FBS opponents. Half of those contests are against teams from Power 5 leagues, including three against ACC squads and three versus Big Ten foes. CAA Football teams have 19 victories over FBS opponents since 2009, including two last season. CAA Football has been dominant against non-conference FCS competition, posting a 21-5 record (.808) during the 2022 regular season, which was the best of any league.

CAA Football had five teams (Delaware, Elon, New Hampshire, Richmond and William & Mary) receive berths in the 2022 NCAA FCS playoffs. The five selections were the most for the conference since 2018 and marked the 11th time that at least four CAA teams were chosen for the playoffs.

At the end of the season I saw us making our CAA debut with a possible 6 or 7 win season.

Now with the coaching changes and loss of our best players to the portal I see 1 win at the moment.   :brickwall:

So, in addition to losing your coach, how many A&T players have hit the transfer portal?

This is extreme. This isn't Fobbs 2.0. We're far from that hiring snafu. We didn't lose any offensive lineman and our improving Secondary is still intact.

Lastly, Brickhandler and Yeager are still on the team. With the right OC and QB Coach, both will play very well.

I forgot about Cannon Jr. He didn't play last year, IIRC. But with this being said, my point stands. The cupboard isn't bare, especially at DB, OL, and QB.

The previous staff knew how to recruit and develop talent. They just couldn't develop a scheme to win within the Big South and ultimately the CAA.

I agree, there are still some pieces there. This is not a rebuild job.

Good luck - I see a tough season ahead, I hope that is not true.

Appreciate it, transition seasons are always tough...saw that first hand our first season in the BSC. Just like that season, I expect NCA&T to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack our first season in the CAA. After that I expect the Aggies to fight and claw our way to the top with each season there after. Like with any conference the measure of any program will be how consistently you are ranked at or near the top. Folks in Greensboro are very serious about raising the University profile. I'm looking forward to the ups and downs of the journey. We are going to grow as a result of the moves we are making today.

https://hbcugameday.com/2023/01/09/nc-at-wont-be-a-caa-football-dormat-chancellor-tells-alumni/

We will make the resources available to Coach Brown that he needs to be successful in the CAA and the football program. That is our commitment to him.”

- Earl Hilton, NCA&T AD

“We didn’t make the transition to Big South, and now, subsequently to the Colonial Athletic Conference (Association) without being smart enough to recognize the investments needed"

“We’ve never been a doormat wherever we’ve been in academics or athletics, we don’t plan to be so in the Colonial Athletic Conference (Association) either. That means that we are as attentive to understand the needs of our institution as we look to the future.”

So we ask you all to join us on this journey because we think this is an exciting journey for the future of this institution and the role we will play for enhancing the competitiveness of Greensboro, Guilford County, Triangle Region, North Carolina — and beyond.

And I assure you, we are more than able and ready to meet those expectations".

- Harold Martin, Chancellor NCA&T

We didn’t even have enough sense to change the plays in Charlotte. Your Eagles has us looking goofy. GWebb was also able to contain us rather quickly in all phases of the game.

????

So what were the Aggies in 1981, 1982, 2006, and 2007????  The last two were both 0-11 seasons.

I guess having some success cloud's one's memory.
