HELLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOO!

I wish these folks will stop bringing up the Tuskegee Invitational. You have your Celebration Bowl on national television. ENJOY IT!

that's all...  ::)
Be careful what you wish for…as I recall, there were at least two MEAC schools that disagreed with the conference decision to give up the AQ and send the conference champ to the celebration bowl…neither of those schools are in the MEAC today.

How much money did NCAT get out waiting to go to the playoffs last year? We need to be about business? Riddle me this- 1) you have the potential to make a million dollars or 2) you get refunded the money you spend just to say I played in a playoffs. Which one is the better business decision?

Of the three rumored schools against the bowl. . . well. . one remains. . . :lol:  That school is all in, now.

I like this idea if it's switched to a Thursday - Saturday format.  Also, the D2 conferences should only receive 500K - 700K.  I don't see any reason why the brand-name FCS schools would or should support the payout being equal.

If we can get some deal like the CB, I say bring it back.  Some people wants a black college play-off. The winners of the PB and CB battle for the HBCU championship.  If the HBCU national champion can make up to 2 million, it would be worth it.
D2 can't play D1 in any postseason game.

1)You're comparing apples to oranges. Division II HBCUs are in a different revenue and national aspirations thank our Division I HBCU brethrens.
2) In the SIAC, I would hope and PRAY that we can rid ourselves of a few of the schools. Addition by SUBTRACTION! We have way too many schools and travel to this spread out conference is unbearable for our schools.

AGAIN, PLEASE LET THIS PIONEER BOWL IN THE SKY DIE! If it's not making any money nor a plan to generate a compensation that's going to attract both conferences, then keep it right there, IN YOUR DREAMS.

Oldschoolram, we've tried that remember. It was the Heritage Bowl with Southern versus Hampton and your team against Mother Tuskegee. I was at that game and watched Hampton drug Southern up and down the field. We all thought at that time a double header with the Heritage Bowl in the afternoon and the Pioneer Bowl in the evening would draw a bigger attendance at the Georgia Dome. That didn't happen. The Heritage Bowl attendance was 29,561, a few thousand less than the previous two Heritage Bowls. I don't know what the attendance for the Pioneer Bowl that year, but I don't think it was 10,000 people. I may be incorrect.

People we have not had ESPN and other money behind a D2 bowl game.  Plus, it might be on national TV. It is about growing our brand.  Do you realize how many times things fail before they finally become successful? The Wright brother didn’t give up because the plane didn’t get off the ground the first time.  It is all about timing, and the timing might be now. We can build off the success of the CB.

HBCUS are getting more attention and most people realize that we  play sports very well.  People want to see more HBCU football.

True some FCS HBCUs are getting more attention but I doubt if it has trickled down to D2 schools very much, and now that HBCU Jesus has gone to Colorado, it might not get there.  I personally believe attendance plays into it.  If a lot of people attend your conference games, then the thought process might be that even more will want to watch it on TV.    This is just my opinion and I have nothing definitive to back it up.

Neither HBCU division (NCAA Division I or II) makes any money. Neither division makes any money or gets exposure in the NCAA playoffs. The Celebration Bowl and the additional Pioneer Bowl provide our HBCU student-athletes a bowl game experience and a chance to play on national television. I played in the Heritage Bowl and it was a great experience. As a former college coach and administrator, the bowl games are a win. That’s my thought… :shrug:
