HBCUs has always had problem doing what's normal in comparison to those other schools. We seldom have the resources and the qualified personnel to function like them. This was the case when DEION was at Jackson State and before he got there. Why is it that he now decides to comment about it? I thought that improving in these areas was one of his goals. Why is it that we want to act like we are the same as them? We started from a deficient and we have been trying to catchup ever since. Every time we get something good that will help us the white man takes it away, then makes us feel like we did something wrong. This justifies, our running leadership, for making their moves. A&T did the same when they left the MEAC. When Colorado kick him out, he will run right back in our arms... and we will accept him.

News flash! ALL HBUCs are having problems with something... mostly because of finances or unskilled personnel. Money has a way of drawing our best away from us.

.....well, Mr. DRUMMA, you and I have had quite an "exchange" on this board, especially since Deion Sanders was named JSU head coach.  But throughout our dustups, I have ALWAYS been concerned about what happens to JSU football once he moves on.  So I'm sure that's where you and others in the JSU family will now direct your energies.

I have watched extensive video of Prime, his son, wife and various other members of the entourage in their initial foray into Boulder.  Shine and his crew are MASTERS at social media, so they are documenting EVERYTHING.  I know nothing about Boulder other than a four day visit to Denver a couple of years ago for a conference.  I believe Boulder is about a half hour's drive from Denver.

But in six decades+ existence on this earth, I have had quite a record with white folks generally.  And one thing about them, especially their interaction with black folks, they are cool with you so long as you continue to serve their interests.  And they discard you once that interest has run its course.  Prime and his crew has taken his "shucking and jiving" act to Boulder.  While alien to them, the white folks who run that university and its athletic department will be fine with that so long as he is able to turn that program around.  But they only finished 1-11 this year.  So Prime will need some time to turn it around.  But they don't give "us" the time white coaches get. 

So here's the bottom line.  If they don't see improvement after season 2 of his tenure, he MIGHT get one more year.  And then its OVAH!!

Like I said, people need to watch that press conference. He still hasn't thanked Jackson State for given him the opportunity because NO school was giving him one.

They don't have to be. GA southern put football first and look what happened. They grew from 6,000 to over 26,000 students today. They hired a famous coach and got the heck out of his way. 

JSU was becoming a global brand and the President needs to learn to stay the heck out the way. Let the school grow.

THANK YOU! This is what Coach Prime is upset about and wants HBUCS to change that behavior. It is ironic, we lot to post attendance numbers but don't think about if the majority of the revenue is being put back into sports.

Why should HBCUs stop doing that when it's typical business practice in college sports? Even P5s subsidize their university academic and physical operations.

JSU overextended itself by paying Prime close to $2 million per year. They also made his staffed the highest paid assistants in FCS. I know this because I know the person who cuts the checks.

Keep in mind, Prime and Colorado have been in talks since the summer. During the Week 3 SWAC Coaches Call (after the Southern Heritage Classic), Prime came on screen apologizing for being late, stating, "I'm currently in Colorado." JSU Administration  bent over backwards for him. A lot of HBCU presidents will tell you that Hudson is one of the most progressive and easy-going HBCU leaders.

HBCUs put money where it's needed.


There are coaches that get a cut of the money games but we have to keep our colleges open.
