Anytime the US gets out of pool play in any men's World Cup, it is a win. Those delusions of grandeur from the time when I was growing up playing the game nearly 40-45 years ago in youth league/junior high and high school, are just that, delusions of grandeur. I read books as a pre-teen/teen that saw the U.S. WINNING the World Cup by the 90's/early 2000's...

I cannot see the US winning the World Cup for the next 60-70 years at the earliest.

And, the way this country overall (away from sports) is tilting toward that movie Idiocracy, America may never win it.

Bison 4 Life, you hit it on the head. I was a licensed soccer coach and referee. The team that I enjoyed coaching the most was the area U-16 girl's team. They left it all on the field. I assumed that it took so much for them to get on the playing field instead of spending all of their time in front of a mirror that they paid a price for it. You see that in the play of our woman's national soccer team.
