Well, playing DII schools isn't going to help you get into the playoffs and the SWAC was trash this year adding absolutely nothing to the SOS.  I just want to know one thing.  Will FAMU be putting out a "disrespect" video as BCU did???? :tiptoe:

With FAMU's schedule this year, the only way they get in the playoffs is a win over Jackson State or North Carolina. A competitive defeat to the Tar Heels (at least the first half) was not going to be enough to impress the committee. In future years, FAMU can schedule their 3 non-conference games with at 2 teams from other FCS conferences and the third can be either vs. a DII HBCU or an FBS team.

University of Delaware only got admitted because of the perceived strength of the Colonial Athletic Association over the SWAC and Delaware's history in the playoffs (a couple of National Titles & Runner Up finishes). If their win over FBS Navy (4-7) was considered, the committee would weigh that more favorably than FAMU's loss to UNC.

I would add that being associated with the CAA got Delaware in the door. But when it comes to last few teams, resumes are compared directly.  The first four out were Austin Peay, Chattanooga, FAMU, and Rhode Island.

Delaware beat Rhode Island and has a FBS win. None of the other bubble teams can claim a FBS win.

I think all ya'll post are decent but fail to address the elephant in the room. We need to beat somebody in the playoffs when we do get a bid. Most of the time we are just happy to get a bid and then get crushed in the playoffs. We also need to schedule "good" playoff caliber FCS schools and beat some of them. Sure we have beaten some patsy's, but not the Montana's or North Dakota States. Until all this happens, they will never take us seriously.

???………..interesting.

Not sure about Div 2, but there is only ONE HBCU FCS school which has a DOCUMENTED history of winning playoff games. And that’s the school located on the highest of seven hills in Tallahassee.

So if THIS is the criterion which weighs most heavily with the selection committee, the Rattlers should be in almost every year…………:::RIGHT???

I don't know about FAMU being snubbed or WE continue to fail in not deciding whether we want the Playoffs or HBCU revenue. As we've discussed about the Division II playoffs, it comes down to strength of schedule and teams you play within your Division.

that's all...

There are 2 ways to look at it. Yes, strength of schedule plays a role, but also teams that were ranked lower than FAMU received a bid to the playoffs. Another thing that hurt FAMU is that they struggled with teams in the conference that they shouldn't have struggled with given talent they have. And that's a result of poor game management. I'll probably be the only with this opinion, but we were 9-2 this season by default, not because we raised any hell on the field.

And not to mention other opponents -- like Tennessee State (which lost to D2 lane), Alabama A&M and others -- played JSU a whole lot tougher than FAMU did. Hell, JSU beat them worse than the P5 team they played.
Dude…….FAMU didn’t play Tenn State this season, so what the hell are you talking about? ???

Mofos are so quick to slam FAMU they can’t even get their FACTS straight…………….sad.

Mofos are so quick to read to respond instead of reading to comprehend that you don't realize I didn't say Tennessee State played FAMU.

What EYE said was that Jackson State's opponents -- OTHER THAN FAMU -- were more competitive against JSU than the Rattlers getting monkey stomped by 56 points. And the FCS selection committee chairman said Sunday that beatdown was taken into account when evaluating FAMU's playoff resume.

I've been on this message board since 1999 and THIS is the main issue we've discussed in the past.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Did FAMU get snubbed......................? I don't think so. Everyone knows the game by now. Either beat some good non-conference teams or be completely dominant with no losses in your conference and non-conference schedule. Otherwise, you ain't gettin' in the NCAA playoffs. It's that simple! ::)

…………I thought it might be helpful to the UNBIASED observer of this thread if I reposted what I stated earlier. Beyond all of the MINDLESS DRIVEL which too often drives the discussion on this board, FAMU’s playoff history should have been accorded some deference in the playoffs selection process.

But, hey, FAMU getting screwed? Well, that’s perfectly fine for the school most love to hate on this board.

Anyway, I’ve said enough and, quite frankly, am sounding redundant.

So, FAMU is out of the playoffs, Jackson State “conveniently” hides behind SCG and Celebration Bowl to AVOID being tested by some of the “traditional” FCS powers, and it appears that’s just fine by folks who opine on this board.

Okay, you got my attention.  ;D

#1. The selection committee on the FCS and BCS level could care less about a team's playoff history, let alone a team's last playoff win being in 1999.

#2. Jackson State is contractually bound to the SWAC Championship Game and ultimately the Celebration Bowl. Even if we weren't, we nor any other school in the SWAC has given a fat fugg about the playoffs. We're Black-Black around these parts and will gladly support our classics over an event you get pimped by the NCAA. Yall claimed your fans were subjected to racism in Hammond, LA last year yet still want to be apart of that system...even bidding to host a game where the NCAA takes 70% of your gate revenue.

Wow, the SWAC is unkind to you FAMU.  Y'all come on back home.  I for one think you should have gotten into the playoffs.

???…….well, here you have it, folks. More MINDLESS rant from Jackson State’s sole representative on the board, talking ALOT and saying very little substantively.   Wtf is the origin or definition of the term, “Black-Black”? I guess that’s more of that tic-tock/Worldstar foolishness.

So the consensus best HBCU FCS school in the land is “contractually bound” to play in the SCG and, ultimately, the Celebration Bowl. But even if these contractual constraints didn’t exist, Jackson State wouldn’t participate in the playoffs anyway because, well, we’re “Black-Black” in Mississippi.

One word comes to mind…..COWARD. Another word comes to mind…….FRAUD.

And the silliness continues………………,

The last time the Rattlers won a playoff game, the current FCS playoff committee chairman was likely in high school.

I'll let that sink in.

FAMU did not get 'snubbed.'  The title of the piece is emotive.

https://www.kulr8.com/sports/montana-grizzlies/fcs-playoff-committee-chair-jermaine-truax-explains-why-montana-grizzlies-made-the-field/article_cef06f49-4219-5764-9bf6-0587ad83ff29.html

An article on how the Griz made it in the playoffs.  I imagine some of the same discussions were had concerning FAMU.

A few things stand out.  This is one of them:
Quote
Truax continued on about UM by bringing up its nonconference schedule. It played two games versus teams from the Missouri Valley Conference (South Dakota, Indiana State) and one against a team from the Southland.

When comparing bubble teams from different conferences, the committee liked how Montana had success in those cross-conference competitions.

“While those teams happened to fall out to the middle of the pack or the bottom, the Griz were still challenging themselves in those cross-conference matchups,” Truax said. “Those matchups give us good data points to see how they fare against other leagues. Even if they may not have played against North Dakota State, you still get those reference points.”

So they're telling you to be successful against middling teams from other conferences.

I might argue this datapoint in that it appears to disadvantage east coast teams.  The western conference teams (WAC, MVFC, Big Sky, Southland) can be remote and thus will play each other for OOC games and juice their strength of schedule overall.  this may not be quantifiable. . .

Quote
The committee wants the 24 best teams in the playoffs, and that may not always reflect in their records. If you were to put teams head-to-head, who would emerge victorious?

“When you really boil it all down … you just have to ask yourself, ‘If I line this team up with these other teams, who do you think is the better team?’” Truax said. “And Montana we felt was a stronger team than the rest of those bubble teams and ultimately, that won the day.”

I guess the question becomes; if the Grizz were one of the last teams in, then could FAMU defeat the Griz?

You are right about Jackson State. They are hiding from the big boys. Deion keep making excuses while beating up on SWAC schools with less talent and resources. I love what he is doing for HBCUs, but he needs to show the world what he has or stop talking and taking bows. If he wants to be our God, then do some "God like" things like beating good schools on his level.
