^^^Wile, did you actually WATCH the interview? Had you done so, you would likely find the answer to the first question in your post. Deion Sanders is, arguably, the most recognizable head football coach in all of HBCU and FCS football. Campbell, a PWI with a black head coach who has compiled highly acclaimed great recruiting classes in the last couple of years, is Coach Sanders next opponent. No one cares about Mike London at W&M and who is the head coach at Hampton, anyway? More salient question, who cares about the identity of the HC at Hampton? What am I missing here?
WileE,HBCU Gameday reads this message board and I'm sure they saw the threads inquiring about Mike Minters recruiting ability. I think they simply gave us what we wanted.
The HBCUGameday leadership team is following the financial framework and data metrics. It has worked for them thus far.
WileE does have a point. Will we see in the future interviews on HBCU Gameday with other Black PWI coaches facing HBCU opponents? Consistency would be refreshing.
1) Campbell is playing FOUR HBCUs in one season, and will soon be in the CAA with two others. They are playing more HBCU football programs than A&T, Hampton and Tennessee State. 2) They are playing in two of the biggest homecoming games of the year, doesn't it make sense for our audience (fans of those programs) to know who Campbell is? 3) Campbell is a team that is competing for the same level of players that our FCS programs are -- they are worth keeping an eye on.4) The data from our article this summer shows that Campbell has a fan base that will read content about their team, which helps us bring in revenue. Sadly there are far too few HBCU fanbases that don't engage with content on their favorite team. At the end of the day its a good, unique story and we'd be doing a disservice if we didn't take a deeper look. Hopefully, this clears some things up
