y04,

Perhaps you missed this part from my Sept 6th post...

That assumes that beginning the evacuation would not have triggered the panic.

That's VERY far from a safe assumption.

Biden's plan was not "last minute," either - until the Afghan army laid down its arms, and the Afghan govt collapsed.  Almost EVERY analyst believed that weeks or months were still on the clock for an orderly evacuation.

However, as Bison4Life said, human behavior is not always predictable...

That post eventually led to Neymar and me finding "common ground."

They should have planned for the Afghan Army laying down their arms.  Everybody else knew The Taliban was gonna go through the Afghan Army like crap through a goose.

Well,...

The problem for your scenario is that NO ONE IN THE KNOW has gone on record to say that ANYONE predicted the total (immediate) collapse not just of the Army but the entire government.

So,... Have we reached common ground?

This - from John Bolton - confirms what I said back then:

QUOTE
"Because he (#ErraticTrump) didn't understand, fundamentally, much of anything about international affairs. His decisions were not based on a coherent philosophy or coherent policy. They were erratic. Under Donald Trump, he signed a deal with the Taliban..."

This is what I said back then in Sept 2021:
#3TimeLoser45 berated #RealPresidentObama for giving a date for just decreasing troops, then #Erratictrump
- "negotiated with terrorsits",
- almost invited them to Camp David,
- signed a "capitulation" agreement with the Taliban (per H.R. Mcmaster, former general and #ErraticTrump's hand-picked Nat'l Security Adviser),
AND
- gave a date for a TOTAL WITHDRAWAL!!!
