Olivia Newton-John, the Australian singer whose breathy voice and wholesome beauty made her one of the biggest pop stars of the ’70s and charmed generations of viewers in the blockbuster movie “Grease,” died on Monday, according to a statement from her husband. She was 73.

......Ivan, I liked several of ONJ's songs as well, and Magic is one of my absolute favorites.  It really is a beautiful song.  And I listen to it and others of her songs on Sirius Satellite Radio, Yacht Rock Radio, Channel 330.  So it would have been enough to simply have THAT memory in my head.

But noooooooo.......you posted a video of her singing Magic and, Lord have mercy, I wish you hadn't done that.  Her outfit was corny as hell.  Her dancing was stilted, off beat and almost seemed rehearsed. She had a typical white girl flat-a.z.z.  And the audience's reaction was pretty much nil. 

So, that's it, no more watching ONJ's video.  I'll just be content listening to her pop tunes, especially my favorite, Have You Ever Been Mellow.  But, again, no videos, please.

......respectfully, Big Cap, my memory is a tad different than yours.  I believe that the 70's was when tokenism began in earnest.  But am old enough to remember as a little boy in the mid-late 60's when mofos would yell "black on tv!" when one of us appeared.

Ironically, there ARE Black folks in the movie. But they're all dancers and extras. Take a look at the movie again and you'll see them if you look for them, especially in the dance numbers.

Ivan^^^I appreciate you thinking about a brutha. But this is how I prefer to remember ONJ. We’re not talking knock-the-socks-off vocals like a Whitney Houston or something. Just nice, pretty tones, and a beautiful song………….
