WM, can you remember the longest time it took a federal case to come to trial (hint: The McMartin Preschool Abuse Trial)? After motions, and appeals of motion decisions to come to the actual trial beginning? Then the length of the trial to verdict?

I do not believe the McMartin case was a federal case. Also, there are no depositions in federal criminal trials. I suspect that if Trump is indicted within a year.

This case is particularly unique  (sui generis).

Fani Willis is taking her time as well. Letitia James is also taking her time with the civil case in New York.

This a criminal prosecution of a former President

I suspect that if Trump is indicted, the case will be resolved within a year

My biggest concern is not if, but when (time).

SEE HIS INTERVIEW THAT WAS ON "MORNING JOE" THIS MORNING ON MSNBC.  HE IS NEITHER A COWARD OR INCOMPETENT.  HE EXPLAINED THE DETAILED REVIEW, ANALYSIS AND INVESTIGATION THAT IS ON-GOING.  WE ALL WANT QUICK RESULTSBUT I AM CONFIDENT THAT THE RESULTS OF HIS ACTIONS WILL ULTIMATELY WITHSTAND ANY ATTACKS FROM THE RIGHT-WING SCOTUS.  TRUST ME ON THIS.

That's just it. Time is short. After his investigation and evidence gathering, issuing an indictment (if any) and a lengthy trial will take a long time. His time may run out if the GOP takes control again, and this all will be for naught. This has already taken more time than it should have, IMO.

The earliest the Republicans can gain control of the executive branch is January 2025.

SoFlo,

I feel you on this...

Wildman, you are correct about Jan 2025, BUT there's an election before that and a campaign before THAT, and DOJ ("by the book Garland!!!") policy not to "interfere" in an election by announcing an investigation.

So, instead of January 2025, it's really Spring of 2024 - at THE LATEST.

We all know that #3TimeLoser45's strategy is DELAY, DELAY, DELAY.  Motion after frivolous motion will be filed by his team.  If he were indicted YESTERDAY, it might not go to trial until 2024!!!!

PLUS,...What will Garland's stance be IF/WHEN #3TimeLoser45 announces a presidential candidacy prior to the November 2022 mid-term elections?

Garland is bringing a wet noodle to a knife fight!!!!

No, Trump will not escape prosecution by announcing his candidacy. Garland will not stay or delay a prosecution because Trump announces his candidacy. Trump is going to be indicted.

Garland seems to have dropped the other shoe, and redeemed himself.

But I will remain healthily skeptical until I see results.

For now, I am pleased and relieved.

The Justice Department plans to prosecute anyone who was “criminally responsible for interfering with the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to another,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said Tuesday, speaking more expansively than he has previously about a federal criminal investigation that appears to have moved far beyond the rioters who attacked the Capitol.

Justice Dept. Asking Witnesses About Trump in Its Jan. 6 Investigation

Federal prosecutors sought information about the former president’s role in the efforts to overturn the election as the inquiry accelerates.

This is your friendly reminder that Merrick Garland's investigation of Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols and the Unabomber had zero leaks before indictments, 100% convictions and no turnovers on appeal. And now Trump is a “Subject” of Garland's Jan 6 investigation (soon to be “Target). So a little advice to you Trump supporters, I wouldn't spend too much money on those “Trump-2024” posters. But then again, you continue to donate to Trump's pockets so Never-Mind.
