A longstanding FCS debate will be settled in the second week of September.

How would the best of the FCS fare versus the cream of the crop in Black college football?...

North Dakota State is on a whole nother level.  Those corn fed, and a few grass fed, white boys kick butt and take names.

If A&T wants to have a chance they have to break their expectations on winning.

Y, you are correct NDS is and has truly been on a different level for many years.  Jackson State and all their high level recruits are not even ready for NDS who has built a National program as opposed to a team.

sigh…….…the Aggies are currently considered “the cream of the crop” in black college football?  ??? Who is writing this stuff for hbcusports, high school free lancers?

North Dakota State is really an FBS program masquerading as an FCS program. The game will be played at the Fargo Dome. NDSU has how many FCS titles over the last 5-10 years?  Look, I’ll be pulling for the pups, but this game has “beat down” written all over it.

Did A&T’s white AD at least negotiate some funds to send the Aggies marching band so they can entertain all of those white folks on the plains? I’m sure they’re not used to seeing THAT kind of marching band entertainment.  ;D

North Dakota State is not letting that band in their little dome. The Aggies that do make the trek will be stuck in a far away corner.   Or worse on the last row all around the dome.

A top mid-level FBS at that.

As an Aggie you know I'm biased...but for the past 10 years what HBCU football program has been better than A&T? We got the wins and the rings to prove that you can't list the best of HBCU football with A&T at or near the top of that list.

Yeah, NDSU is a whole different animal. They are the best in FCS bar none. The game is a benchmark for our program, where we stand...verses where we want to be. The days of lining up underfunded teams with no playoff aspirations are over for A&T. I look at it the same way I see a FBS money game. There is no return game, we take our payout and hope for the best.

I fail to see what the color of our AD has to do with securing funds for band travel , that said...he has been acknowledged as one of the best ADs at our level...he was named the Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year for NCAA FCS in 2019, and he has been with the program for over 10 years...10 years where A&T has basically dominated HBCU sports, IJS...the NDSU game is an out of state, out of conference money game. It is my understanding the band won't be traveling. It's more likely fans can catch the BGMM right up the street the following week in Durham for our game with Duke...and for the next three weeks for home games at NCA&T.

AGGIE 96^^^sir, not particularly interested in going backnforth with you on this topic, but aggregating your post with y’s^^^, it appears that the Aggies marching band will NOT be traveling with the football team to Fargo.

So it begs the question, exactly what IS the rationale for this odd matchup?  You were silent on hbcusports spin on this game, that it will settle the “debate” about how an elite FCS team would match up with a top BCF program. The consensus of posters so far is that the Aggies don’t match up well at all. You have not challenged that consensus, so your silence suggests implicit concurrence.

You call this an out of conference “money” game. Really? How much is that elite FCS program “paying” y’all to come to Fargo? And why would they even WANT to do that? If the marching band isn’t going to Fargo, what’s the point?

Strike, white people could care less about a marching band.  Unless you're Ohio State.  They aren't giving free seats to a large band when they can sell those seats to fans.

……….yeah, I understand. It’s a different culture out there and they’re not particularly enamored of an HBCU marching band.

So I’m still trying to understand the rationale for this game. How much is NDSU paying the Aggies to fly out there and why?

We don't typically take our band when playing theses matchups. We're not going there to entertain them. Lol....at least not intentionally.

Strike this game was created to be played a couple years ago. Largely pushed by Coach Washington and our AD. I believe we're getting $250k for a one time game. Both say this isn't about the money.  Coach has constantly said he wants to know how we measure up against the best in FCS. After our win vs. #6 Jax State in 2018 he set his sights on playing other ranked fcs teams.

Rightfully we will be huge underdogs but we've performed well when playing ranked opponents. Regardless Coach will get his wish early.

Your history not withstanding can you truly say your team is presently "the cream of the crop"????  There are quite a few freshmen, redshirt freshmen listed on your roster.  Not trying to throw shade but asking a serious question.
