The #FAMU #Marching100 has been invited to perform in Paris, France -- again.  This time on an all-expense paid trip by Louis Vuitton.  This summer.

......this is a really awesome honor.  To be invited back 33 years after that first appearance at Bastille Day, the French independence day.  I remember that appearance with ENORMOUS pride, and taped a couple of hours or so of the parade, but somehow lost the VHF tape through moving or something. It was good seeing that brief glimpse of Dr. Foster in the clip^^^.

soflo and board, beyond the 100rd's appearance at Bastille Day in 1989, you might rememnber that the French also invited the late great American soprano, Jessye Norman, to sing their national anthem, La Marseillaise.  That was REALLY controversial in France because Norman wasn't a French citizen AND, perhaps more objectionable, she was black.  But Norman was hugely popular with the French people, spoke the language fluently, and her performance was one for the ages.

They're only taking a 35 members contingent to Paris on this upcoming trip, but they will make us ALL proud.
