The CIAA has to be careful not to create a tournament the simply rely on the older fans to attend. This move out of North Carolina is doing that. They need to keep it in North Carolina where most of the students are. They need to be trying to get new student fans for the future. At some point you have to plant news trees to continue to have fruit.

Great point Ram55.  Also when you have 15 inches of snow or 5 below will the fans show up.  Great 1st year showing in Baltimore but with gas and food prices staying high will fans come back for a second year.

No schools in Philadelphia and New York City.  The CIAA is not the NBA.

Philadelphia, also called Philly, is the nation’s six most populous city and the largest city in Pennsylvania. It’s also one of the best college cities. There are 115 public and private universities and colleges in this Philly. Most notably, Philly is home to the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), an Ivy League college serving nearly 25,000 students. Students hoping to live in downtown Philly should check out Penn, Drexel University, or Thomas Jefferson University  Lincoln is 45 miles from Phila.

 Philadelphia to Baltimore 100 miles.

Charlotte blew it with low ball negotiating. That's their fault. The CIAA went after the best deal.

SIMPLY SOUR GRAPES.  THE CIAA SIMPLY NEGOTIATED THE BEST BUSINESS DEAL.  CHARLOTTE DID NOT DO THAT.  THEY WILL HOWEVER HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE AT REDEMPTION IN THREE YEARS. CHARLOTTE IS GOING TO HAVE TO DO MORE THAN TO JUST PRAY FOR SNOW IN B-MORE.  LET'S SEE IF CHARLOTTE HAS A BETTER DEAL TO OFFER THE CIAA NEXT TIME AROUND.  WE ALL KNOW THAT MONEY TALKS AND WHAT WALKS.

Philly is too far.  Lincoln isn't covered in the Philadelphia market.   If Henrico County finishes the arena in time, the CIAA will be coming back to Richmond.

Students showed up in Baltimore just as much as Charlotte, if not more. Consider the fact students didn’t get in free in EITHER city and there were a lot more things to demand their attention in Charlotte outside the arena. Schools just have to be proactive about getting students up there, as our alma mater did.

The CIAA Tournament is also about recruiting HS students and our schools have a unique opportunity to do so in a new place. Give it a chance, they WANT the CIAA there.

Don't think we'll have money in 3 years for CIAA. The city just announced $275 million proposal to renovate the Charlotte Hornets’ arena and build the NBA franchise a new practice center possibly across the street where the bus station is currently located. Then it will be time to build the Panthers a new state of the art football/soccer stadium for the Panthers/Charlotte football club. Not the mention with the deal falling through between the Panthers and the City of Rock Hill SC, the Panthers may want to look at land to build their new headquarters within the city. With all of that and other building projects and growth within Charlotte and Mecklenburg County there may not be enough funds to offer more for the CIAA to return.

Our 56–building main campus in southern Chester County in Pennsylvania is an oasis amid rolling farmlands and wooded hilltops. Our rural setting is within about an hour of several major cities: 45 miles from Philadelphia; 55 miles from Baltimore; and in Delaware, 25 miles from Wilmington and 15 miles from Newark.

Exactly Charlotte has put it's eggs in the professional sports basket.

I hear you, but it would be in the city’s best interest to pony up the money anyway so they can make even more in return. But if Charlotte is sick of our black a--es, we can keep our black a-- money flowing into Baltimore’s economy where we’re actually appreciated.

In Charlotte, most of the students were in the clubs and day parties, not at games. Baltimore will continue to grow and I am happy the city is able to host the tournament.
