The new NCAA regulation soccer field, which can also be used for lacrosse, is currently under construction and is slated to be complete by May 2022.

ETTRICK, VA – Virginia State University (VSU) Athletics continues to add to the institution’s Greater Happens Here mantra with the addition of three (3) sports programs. The Trojans will add women’s soccer, men and women’s lacrosse to their list of sponsored sports effective immediately.  Men’s Soccer will be added in Spring 2023.

VSU Athletics currently offers 17 athletic teams; eight for women, eight for men, and co-ed cheerleading.

This is great for VSU....but the MEAC doesn't have soccer, or Men's/Women's lacrosse. Guess they will have to do like Howard and a couple others and have those teams play in other leagues for the sports the MEAC doesn't sponsor.

  Jag, I still think VaState is a perfect addition to the MEAC along with 2 other CIAA teams....but, I've beat that dead horse to death over on MEAC FANS ZONE  ....so like another topic, I'm just sitting, listening, reading, watching....and we will see what happens OR does NOT happen.

Only one CIAA school currently has men's and women's soccer, which is Shaw as an independent.

Lincoln was a Women Soccer team (East Coast Conference) and Mens and Women club. Lacrosse.

I would love to see VSU and Fayetteville State make the move to the MEAC. They both have solid enrollment and athletic programs. I would venture to say that the Broncos have had the most consistent HBCU athletic program in North Carolina for the last 20 years.

Bluefield State wants in the CIAA and they have a women's soccer team.  Allen also has a women's soccer team that will be independent.

Shaw, Lincoln, VSU, Bluefield, and Allen could be first step for the CIAA offering Women's Soccer.

Maybe everyone isn't interested in playing soccer? It's just a thought....Beau here
