Omicron Virus is playing havoc with CIAA Basketball this season.  Many schools are prohibiting spectators in attendance.  Do you we really need to support the CIAA Basketball 🏀 Tournament in Baltimore this year.  Think about it folks.

You've been spot on but there's no reason to cancel now. If I were the Commish, I wouldn't cancel until the last possible second.

My question is: what is the City of Baltimore going to do about the two years of lost revenue from not hosting a regularly attended CIAA tournament? Didn’t the conference only sign a 3 year contract?

Although, with major renovations coming to Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena…perhaps the city can charm the CIAA into keeping the tourney there for a few more years.

i live in the dmv and for the very first time, i heard a ciaa tournament commercial on the radio this morning promoting the upcoming tournament.  so no doubt the ciaa tournament is still on in baltimore although our area just got "dumped on" with nearly a foot of snow that's still on the ground along with "freezing" temperatures...

It a tough call right now. I would hate to make decision. You are comparing future money and sponsorship vs life.  The Celebration bowl got in just in time because how many of the 48K would have showed up in Jan

Actually a ton of SC State alumni that I’m Facebook friends with did get sick after they got back from the game. This particular variant is definitely more easily transmittable.

knowing that the game was in a closed dome, did anyone see spectators masked up at the CB. I'm sure that if the CIAA is hosted a mask mandate will be in place.

well, assuming they do host the tournament, they better hope this snow and freezing temperatures will be gone.  we're expecting a low tonight in the "teens", around 15 degrees with a wind chill factor of "9 degrees".

our folk do not like cold weather, especially not "freezing" temperatures with snow on the ground.  i'm in the immediate dc area, so baltimore is probably even colder...

For me, that's never been the issue, Oleschool. They knew going into this that the further north you go the colder and unpredictable the winter weather would become. My issue was the city itself. I felt that they should have had the tournament in DC at the Washington Mystics gym. DC has more of a wide array of HBCU Alumni residing in the metro area and a suitable transit system for commuting in and out for the game. Also, the nightlife for events would be accommodating for the visitors. The cost of hotels maybe a different question. I live in the DMV and Baltimore. Who's driving to Baltimore in the afternoon commute?

that's all...   :tiptoe:
