I don't remember any of those schools that left blamed Thomas for their reason.  IDK, best wishes on your retirement Mr. Thomas.

You lose 4 schools and you don't retire. You get a new leader on the council. You don't leave. Now he gets fired and you leave.

What's different between now and March. Or May , or January.

Same issues at are present now were present then. Why retire now ?

Naw, its only 5 that have vacated the meac within the past 2 years.

WSSU really doesn't count in the mass exodus from the MEAC.

They did a quick U-TURN after realizing it was a big mistake.

That isn't on the MEAC, thats on WSSU who quickly corrected a mistake.

Can the MEAC be a conference without the NCAA?  If they are not interested in a national championship, why maintain a membership?

Men's basketball is where the real cash sits with the NCAA.  Without NCAA affiliation this revenue source would be eliminated and mid-major programs would crumble.

I hope a good search firm is used to bring in a new commissioner.  I just cant see the MEAC targeting new membership during a period of uncertainty in leadership.

The member presidents and athletic directors are not helpless.
