A massive rescue operation is underway in Surfside, Florida, near Miami Beach following the partial collapse of a 12-story apartment building early Thursday.
At least eight people have reportedly been hospitalized. At the time of this writing, it’s unclear if anyone has been killed.
Images from the scene showed large sections of the 136-unit oceanside Champlain Towers South, which was reportedly built in 1981, in rubble on the ground.

According to local news outlets, emergency crews continue to rescue people from balconies and search through the rubble for survivors.
Local residents have been moved to a nearby community center, reported NBC Miami, with surrounding roads shuttered by police.
