I don’t watch the NBA, but this doesn’t look like a GOLD MEDAL.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

It's enough to get it done.

They should go back to having one or two emerging college athletes.

I thought like this for a while 87 until about 2004 or so, when the USA struggled to get a bronze in Athens. This ain't 1976 or 1984 when our college boys could go in and just mop up. We changed the game ourselves with the Dream Team of 1992 (as a reaction from settling for bronze and losing to the Soviets in 88).

The world stepped up to meet our challenge. We need the biggest of the big guns when we can get them.

At least this unit for next month does have some outside shooting, which is what we have lacked whenever we don't win gold in international competition.

......... but this doesn’t look like a GOLD MEDAL.

Oh. Ok. I thought I was the only one who noticed that. They might bring home the gold, but.........

I get why one might say that because it's not the superstar filled team we're used to seeing...but this team has some of the best shooters in the league along with a few good defenders. Add in Pop coaching...I like our chances.

i get real concerned about nba guys going to the olympics, particularly older guys who have a lot of mileage on their bodies like kevin durant.  durant is coming off of a major injury, plus just about every year he has played "extensively" in the nba playoffs which in and of itself places a major toll on his body.  and then, you add the olympics too?  i just think that's too much on his body at this time in his career.

as for the younger emerging nba superstars like devin booker and jayson tatum who don't have a lot of mileage on their bodies and have enough "youth" that allows their bodies to recover much quicker and in time for the nba regular season, i think they're "ideal" for the olympic team.

that being said, i'm a bit concerned about my guy wizard bradley beal playing in the olympics.  though he's still "fairly" young (27 years old), he played a lot of "extended minutes" this past season and has had injury problems in the past, so i hope he doesn't burn himself out at the olympics and have a tough time staying healthy for the entire upcoming nba season...

I too have the same concerns about Bradley Beal. We need him for the entire season. They are so much better when he and Russy are in there clicking.
