So no Meyers Dome but an Open Air Stadium huh? Cool.

The dome is still on the table, especially with federal funding on the table, provided it also serves as an evacuation site.

$80 million sounds reasonable for a 30k stadium.

They're going to need a little more than that for a FBS 30,000 seat stadium.

The seating is not want I was questioning. I'm aware of plenty FBS stadiums that size. My questioning was whether the $80 million was enough to get a very nice 30,000 FBS facility.
I disagree, Alabama State has  :vomit: a top-notch stadium that they built for 62 mil and they seat 24K.

$80 million sounds reasonable for a 30k stadium.

JSU AVERAGES OVER 30K no way they will want to drop to JUST AT 30K for their new stadium.

You beat me to it.

JSU is looking to have a 40K - 45K seat stadium built.
I would be very surprised if those Mississippi peckerwoods voluntarily give you enough money to build a 1K stadium but good luck.

well if the cost "today" is $80 million to build a 30k seat stadium, its only gonna cost even more the longer they wait to build it.  construction costs never go down, it always goes up...

80M may not be enough to build a gleaming new stadium but it may be enough for a amazing renovation and keep their current capacity intact.

Keep in mind JSU raised quite a bit when the proposed dome was announced in 2014.

You making sense Blu! The only snag is it seems the tradeoff for the funding is the state wants that property for health facilities or something.

The only reason why the State of Mississippi would fund such a project for JSU.

Correct.

That has always been the plan since the state gave control of the stadium to JSU in 2011. UMMC wants the land to emulate the success of UAB in Birmingham. It's been a win-win deal so far.

JSU should get a better version of this. I am not a fan of the indoor stadium, but hey if it works for Jackson.
