Former UNC system board member worked for DeVos-aligned school choice group and backed controversial Silent Sam agreement. Now faculty and alumni are fighting his appointment as chancellor of Fayetteville State University.

How did Darrell Allison cut in line to become the new chancellor at Fayetteville State? It’s a secret.

I'm sorry but, why would anyone want to be president of a college where the students, faculty/staff and alumni don't want you? That situation has never worked in the history of higher education.  This is going to be a very short marriage. If he wants to run a college, he needs to do like everybody else and put the damn work in.  >:(  First he should get the phD, then labor in the class room for the next 6 years until he gets tenure. After that spend the next few years as department head, next move on the the dean's office. After that, learn the job by being vice chancellor a few years.  I mean, that's the track and everyone on a college campus knows it. Anyone who comes in without that resume, will not  be respected as a leader. Can you imagine being a faculty member who has been rejected for tenure, and this person is appointed their boss?  :brickwall:

You're right. I don't know why he hasn't stepped away from this.

Yes!!!

There were alumni, etc. upset when Hackley, McLeod, Bryan, and Anderson was named chancellor.  People tend to forget that.  Some of the ones complaining now also complained when those mentioned were named chancellor.

If those folk you mentioned were qualified, their distractors did not have a leg to stand on. This guy is clearly not qualified.

Hackley and Anderson had never worked at an HBCU.  McLeod had not worked at a university.  Remember, NCCU had a chancellor who had a Juris Doctor who had not worked at a university in administration.

Our JD chancellor was at least an alumnus.  This guy has too many negatives....and he’s not a FSU alum.

Alumnus doesn't matter.  There were Eagles against him being your Chancellor.  He had naysayers during his whole tenure. To include several on this board.

True, but he’s was ours whether it matters or not.

BTW, what’s your vote on Mr Darrell Allison?

You make a good point. And there wasn’t a “search committee” for Chancellor Chambers selection either, CD Spangler hand picked him....

???
You act like Chambers was a criminal or something. What's to talk about?  His style was that of a lawyer. He treated some folk like adversaries. Probably not the best way to be a chancellor, but certainly nothing to hide from. I had actually forgotten he was selected.

Asking again y04185 your view on Mr. Allison's appointment as FSU chancellor.
