Kennesaw and North Alabama have ALWAYS been in the Atlantic Sun. The Big South and Atlantic Sun had an agreement for those two schools to play in the Big South until they formed their own Football conference. The A Sun wants to be a FBS conference and Liberty will join them once they make it to that level

This is will be the Big South Moving Forward

Campbell University
Charleston Southern University
Gardner-Webb University
Hampton University
North Carolina A&T University
Robert Morris
Monmouth

It would be good if they dropped Robert Morris and Monmouth and picked up Howard, Norfolk State, and NC Central. It would be the first fully integrated conference and a great group of schools from an institutional standpoint.

Campbell University
Charleston Southern University
Gardner-Webb University
Hampton University
Howard University
Norfolk State University
NC Central University
North Carolina A&T University
So doesn't this defeat the purpose of A&T moving?  I thought travel was an issue.  This would be MEAC under new management.
SIAC Champs FB 7, CC 7, MBB 9 BB 2, MTF 3, WBB 2,  SWAC Champs FB 2, MT 1 NCAA DII Nat Champs Men's Soccer '77 & '79, D2 Nat Champs Women's Indoor Track '92 Women's Outdoor Track '92 &'93. HBCU Nat FB Champs 1, Swimming and Diving Champs 6

Also defeats the "more competitive" argument too... Big south losing one of its top football teams, Monmouth now the top football school

DC to Charleston is geographic footprint half the size of Dover to Daytona (Old MEAC). This is why Big South needs to drop Robert Morris and Monmouth even IF they are a football power. It makes no sense for PA and NJ to be in the Big South.

Nah.  The only non-HBCU in that football slate worth a fart academically and competitively Is Campbell.  Basketball is a little better with High Point, Winthrop and Radford.  But hard pass.  Give me Morgan State and SC State any day over that.

Exactly!  No thanks...

A couple years ago on MEACfans I predicted we were heading towards an eventual MEAC - Big South merger. I don't know what it will look like but I think market overlap will force this to happen.

Never thought about that.

I don't like it. But it's interesting.

You are mistaken sir.  I did support our move to the MEAC and was excited about it.

Will the A-Sun teams Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State also play football in the Big South?

As Que82 said the issue was always about travel costs. Gong back to April of 2015 in a meeting in the Alumni Center the AD gave a breakdown that showed we could save between 500k to 800k annually on travel costs by moving to a more geographically friendly conference. As our AD said our goal was to be part of a true bus league. Monmouth and RMU will be football only so we'll still realize a huge cost savings. Consider these travel times.

Campbell University - 1.5 hrs
Charleston Southern - 4 hours
Gardner Webb University- 2 hrs
Hampton University - 3.5 hrs
High Point University - 20 minutes
Longwood University- 2 hrs
Radford University - 2 hrs
UNC-Asheville - 2.5 hrs
USC-Upstate - 2.5 hrs
Winthrop - 2 hrs

That's an average of only 2.5 hrs drive time and definitely fits our definition of bus league. In addition these are all day trips and would require no overnight accommodations unless it's a multi day event.
