Can MEAC Baseball Automatic Qualifier Be Rescued?
« on: June 30, 2020, 04:18:55 PM »
I noticed on HBCUGameday that the MEAC baseball schools will now lose their automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament. This doesn't affect Howard, but can the conference expand in order to keep these MEAC baseball programs competing for the NCAA tournament? What are the best options?

Norfolk State
North Carolina Central
Delaware State
Coppin State
Maryland Eastern Shore

Get a D2 Associate Member that wants to play D1 baseball.....

I'm not sure exactly how the rule works, but I know for example that Dallas Baptist is a D2 school and they play D1 baseball.  Wrestling and hockey also have similair rules.

If they could actually swing this then grab VA State since their baseball team is stuck as an independent.

I think a Division II school can play up in one sport.

I'm going to miss it. I might be like the MEAC alumns that go to the CIAA Tournament. I'll probably find my way to Norfolk each year and the Celebration Bowl.

Not a bad idea. I wonder if the conference is exploring this.

Doesn't NC Central have a pretty good baseball program?

Or maybe you just don't care about your team competing for championships.

Is it true that they have a two year grace period before they lose the AQ?
