Now that FAMU is leaving the MEAC, what happens to the southern most schools like SCSU and BCU?

Great Question.

Rumor is SCSU is being considered for the SWAC and not BCU.

Maybe they don't mind remaining in the MEAC.

BCU can probably move to the A-Sun but the best move would be for both schools to move together to the SIAC

Never over look Bethune nor SCSU, both integral to MEAC history.  People kill me with thinking not being in a predominate conference , you are in trouble.  IT IS WHAT IT IS.  Personal preference for me is the MEAC.  Don"t want to be the THAT team among supposed peers.  Look at TSU (the THAT team in OVC) which rivals staffs work against in recruiting of athletes.. ABTSU.   (anybody but TSU)  I'm still in shock that A&T moved, but it was their business decision which hopefully works out NOT becoming another THAT school.  HAMPTON left- not as big a loss as A&T and FAMU being  HU  struggled with support in the stands at their home games.  Maybe visiting conference opponents will fill up HAMPTONS STADIUM ON GAMEDAY.   Also how many team have left the conference A&T -HAMPTON moved to in the last 20 years.   HOW MANY?   :tiptoe:  How does that compare with HU,A&T and SSU leaving the MEAC

What are the implications of moving to Division II.

Mostly a huge loss of scholarships.

 Now you know good and well the white schools fans rarely visit the hbcu's like that...a few but overall, nope. Just ask TSU, they do not go to Nashville to Jefferson Street.  :o :o :o Lions and Tigers and Negroes, OH MY

If it takes financial pressure off of the University, I say make the move. Unless you just like making the trip to Delaware and Princess Anne, MD.

What ever is best for the students and the viability of the University.

It would be nice to have BCU and SCSU in the SIAC if that came to be. But it is what’s best for their institutions Students,Faculty,Staff,Alumni, and fans that is important.

SCSU, a school with a great history, and alumni has puzzled many as to the doldrums hung on them lately.  There must be sabotage from the top Administratively to sidestep growth potentially in Orangeburg.           Where is the MACEO NANCE type of leadership?   Many great assistance coaches have been in that program.  Buddy has done a great job imho under circumstances not the norm.   South Carolina has one state supported HBCU  (1)   HBCUs are strong in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama  and North Carolina.  South Carolina, having only 1, struggles? It should have an enrollment of 10000 at the least.   :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :brickwall: :brickwall:
