In a development that could challenge the Constitution's prohibition of any law "respecting an establishment of religion," the federal government will soon provide money directly to U.S. churches to help them pay pastor salaries and utility bills.

A key part of the $2 trillion economic relief legislation enacted last month includes about $350 billion for the Small Business Administration to extend loans to small businesses facing financial difficulties as a result of the coronavirus shutdown orders. Churches and other faith-based organizations, classified as "businesses," qualify for aid under the program, even if they have an exclusively religious orientation.

The minute Islamic organizations start receiving relief monies, the GOP will look to stop any faith based payments, which would be very similar to what the Republicans did in Louisiana with Jindal's school voucher program.

Also, this is evident that most churches function as a business, which is why some made the decision to defy orders by their state governors, such as Louisiana to cancel church services.  These churches can not go without missing a Sunday Service.  If some did, they probably would be in huge financial troubles. A lot of these churches have huge mortgage payments, which includes the pastor's home mortgage.  Monies from tithes and offerings at Sunday Services are being used to pay on these loans, which means the pastor's expensive lifestyle would be in jeopardy if Sunday Services were canceled. Churches should have reserved funds in case they do get in a bind due to circumstances beyond their control.
