Questions for people on this board
« on: October 17, 2019, 10:48:10 AM »
In the past month we have lost two great people Jessie Norman and Eljah Cummings. What I have noted is when they discuss their educationl background, if they graduated from an HBCU the paper will not report that, but will give the names of the schools where they did their post grad work.  This is not done when whites die.

Ask the racist liberal media why. Let us know what they say.

Brutha Ken^^^I’ve noticed the same thing in the reporting when other prominent black people pass. There is a tendency to omit any reference to the HBCU where the person received his/her undergraduate degree.

When THAT happens, not only is it disrespectful to present students and alumni of the HBCU in question (both Norman and Cummings are Howard alumni), the omission also diminishes those of us who are alumni of ALL HBCU’s.  And that includes the poster^^^with the ridiculous comment about the “liberal” news media.

Just my take.

According to an official biography of Cummings, the Baltimore native attended Howard University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and served as student government president. He later obtained a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.

THE WASHINGTON POST REPORTED THIS MORNING THAT REP. CUMMINGS WAS A GRADUATE OF HOWARD UNIVERSITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND LAW SCHOOL.  I READ THAT PAPER AND THE NEW YORK TIMES EVERYDAY.

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.
