The movie is from a comic book of the same name.
A Youtube series had a brown skin actress playing Dion's mother.

Micheal B Jordan bought the rights and Netflix picked up the film and the mother is now bi-racial and causing some parts of Black Twitter outrage.

Some are also claiming the film has the same tired tropes like a white savior an absent Black father.

::) UGH! As much as I am annoyed with the changes, I am also intrigued. WHY they feel the need to always LIGHTEN the cast to appeal to a WIDER [read WHITER] audience is the really annoying part.  :tongue2:  Honestly, I am more interested in watching the first production.

I don't understand what the problem is? I think of complexion as being interchangeable among African Americans. Why are we getting upset because a character is lighter or darker than our expectations?

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.
