Tacky or not?
« on: November 30, 2010, 11:13:01 AM »
e-Christmas cards?

Do you even open them?

Is it better to just go out and buy the cards and drop them in the mail?

I did them maybe 8-10 years ago to family I was indifferent about . . . then I felt bad.  still something about the act of selecting and sending a card.  When I get them now, I think the person that sent it was lazy, or forgot about me, and tried to get something out last minute.
Don't you think that's some information I'd like to know?  I like Tacos . . .

I don't fool with all of those Christmas cards anymore, paper, ecards or otherwise. I don't mind receiving them, I just stopped sending them years ago.

Birthday cards, Mother's Day, Father's Day cards, those I still select and send paper cards!

 ;)

I do it JT because there are some relatives I don't communicate with through out the year. A Christmas card is my way of saying "I'm thinking about you even though I don't call." I'm trying very hard to not be like my parents. They don't keep up with folk and  folk don't keep up with them. It's sad too because now they are old and don't have many contacts.

I send both e-cards and actual paper cards.  I have a list for each type of card.

e-Christmas cards?

Do you even open them?

No! 99% of them are email harvester sites looking to confirm your email address, eventually selling off email addresses cultivated to spammer sites. This is how all of the Cilalis/Viagra/Codeine/Penis Enlargement Pills, etc. spam end up in your email's Inbox.

People think that I'm being absurd when I ask them not to give my email address to greeting card or other "invite a friend" sites.

I don't send, nor want to receive them...

We have and excellent filter here at work and all of those end up in the junk box. I have to look at it daily because it is so good, that it sometimes put good stuff in.

soflo,
I promise my e-card is spam free.  Now what's that e-mail address?      That goes for you too Alum87

I only re-send e-cards to the people the send them to me.  I do the paper cards if I do them at all.
