WNBA star Maya Moore is leaving professional basketball for family.

Moore, a player for the Minnesota Lynx, wrote in a piece for The Players’ Tribune that she won't be playing professional basketball this upcoming season after she considered her purpose.

“I learned a long time ago that my purpose is to know Jesus and to make Him known,” she said.
She pointed to the Bible verse Colossians 3:23, which she often uses when she signs autographs for fans.
The entire verse reads: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

Hate to see her go.  She was (is) my favorite WNBA player.  I've followed her since her high school days in the Atlanta area to UCONN to the WNBA.  I hope she is happy with whatever she chooses to do.

I'm no minister, but reading the article, it seems as if she's being called into ministry, which is great in my book.

wow, very surprised that she's retiring.  she's still got many more years of "elite" basketball in her tank.  kinda reminds me of jim brown who also retired from football while "still in his prime".

i wish maya the best, but i ain't gone lie.  relative to my washington mystics, i'm glad she's gone!  cuz that's one less superstar to get pass for a wnba championship.  too bad breanna stewart didn't retire from the seattle storm, she was almost "unstoppable" against my mystics in the wnba finals last year...

I don't think she's retiring....I just picked up the notion that she's taking the 2019 season off.

She's not retiring. She's just taking the year off................which a lot of the WNBA players are opting to do now.
