Dr. Freeman Hrabowski III has been President of UMBC since 1992.  He is a 1972 graduate of Hampton Institute.  Here is his profile - https://president.umbc.edu/

If you saw Spike Lee's documentary entitled Four Little Girls Freeman was friends with the 4 girls kills in that bomb explosion at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham.

Dr. Hrabowski was a frequent speaker at my daughter’s high school before and during her time there.

The kids loved him.
