17 Game NFL Season
« on: October 26, 2017, 09:30:01 PM »
This morning Boomer Esiason talked about the NFL playing a 17 game schedule instead of going to London.

He suggested the 17th game be played at a neutral site.  Boomer talked about playing a preseason game in Jackson, MS.  He talked about the halftime show.  There are stadiums across the country that could accommodate and NFL game.  It would give fans a chance to see an NFL game where there are no NFL teams.

Would this be better than going to Europe?

The NFL is looking for growth markets.  There are not too many growth markets in the US that do not have a team.

I can name a few.  San Antonio comes to mind.  I was really thinking more of playing in places with large stadiums and no NFL team.

Also, the NFL and the other leagues have to do a better job reaching those that don't watch TV sets.  They have to do a better job of reaching and developing those fans.

Agreed, market share viewership is more than just Neilson ratings. A growing population is watching more streamed content via devices vs tv. I know that the attendance is down due t the cost of attending and the drunken, boorish behaviour in the stands....but if you only listen to the bumbling idiot in the WH, it’s all about the peaceful anthem protests....

I don't think the NFL is interested in Alabama, Mississippi, or West Virginia. The teams in Texas don't want a team in San Antonio.

They are only interested in international expansion.

I agree.  But I don't see international expansion as the answer.

With all the divisive rhetoric on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, websites such as ours, especially message boards, are under the watchful eye of the Internet giants. And those giants are coming down hard on sites like this one due to the perception of the need for better "oversight".

We recognize the cultural conflict that exists and over the past few months we've been accused of allowing content in posts/threads that supposedly violates some advertiser's policies. Those threads weren’t an issue in the past, but for some reason, they are an issue now. And we are being penalized (financially) because of it.
