Since I'm a survivor I'm required to have two per year. Had mine in April. Next one due in October.

Next visit is in 2 wks; my doctor checks for EVERYTHING.  He's an Alpha, a good brother and a Talladega alum. ;)  I actually go quarterly for a checkup.

Do PSA every February. Remember you also have to do the colonoscopy every few years based on age and risk factors.

Question for you guys. I'm about to turn 30 in a few weeks....When did you all start getting your check ups? Prostate cancer thankfully is known in my family but still want to get the regular checkups.

Usually for black males initial screening begins at 40.

HOWEVER, if you have a family history with a 1st degree relative... brother or father... who has or has had Prostate Cancer, then you should start your annual exams at 35 or even 30 if the cancer for your relative was aggressive.

In MOST cases, prostate cancer is slow growing; not so with black folk.

So go take that finger. It just might save your life.

Had mine in January. I get them annually because I am high risk for cancer.  Both parents died of cancer, brother had surgery for prostate cancer last year and having surgery for colon cancer next week.  My sister is flying out for the surgery. Please keep him in prayer.  I will be driving out to Oklahoma a few days later unless there is an emergency and I have to fly out sooner.  Yes JT fly!  We are staggering our visit to help his wife with him.

Cholly its funny you mentioned the finger.  I told my doctor during my prostate exam that if I felt two hands on my shoulders there would be some furniture moving in there.  He laughed so hard he almost couldn't do the exam.
